    Abstract: A stack of eye shields includes a plurality of eye shields each having a frame with receivers located along the frame and latches located to engage the receivers, and spaced apart elevated support surfaces along and rising above an upper portion of the frame; and a lens installed on the frame and having lens apertures extending through the lens and aligned with the receivers of the frame, with the latches engaged with the receivers securing the lens to the frame. The eye shields are stacked one on top of another with each of the eye shields oriented substantially parallel to one another with each of the elevated surfaces of an overlying one of the frames of the stack being slightly forward of a corresponding one of the elevated surfaces of the underlying frame of the stack, with each frame of each eye shield of the stack having a gap therebetween except at contact surfaces where the elevated support surfaces contact an adjacent lower surface of an overlying eye shield.

    Abstract: An osmotic delivery system flow modulator assembly, an osmotic delivery system with a flow modulator assembly, and a method of assembling an osmotic delivery system. The osmotic delivery system flow modular assembly includes a body having a hole located through the body and communicating two opposing ends of the body. The use of the osmotic delivery system flow modulator assembly lessens the chance that air or gas pockets will form in the enclosure of the osmotic delivery system during assembly of the system. Because less air is within the osmotic delivery system, performance of the system is enhanced. Use of the flow modulator assembly also lessens the chance that beneficial agent will be wasted during assembly of the osmotic delivery system.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for facilitating removal of obstructions from a surgical cutting instrument during a surgical procedure. The apparatus of the present invention is configured to interrupt flow in aspiration tubing when obstructions are detected in the cutting instrument. The apparatus then causes compression of the aspiration tubing to flush fluid towards the cutting instrument, thereby unclogging the instrument in a fast and efficient manner without the need to remove the instrument from the surgical site. A flush lumen is provided to flush a gas through the suction lumen to purge the material obstructing the suction lumen.

    Abstract: An osmotic delivery system for controlled delivery of a beneficial agent includes an implantable capsule containing a beneficial agent and an osmotic engine that swells on contact with water, thereby causing the release of the beneficial agent over time. The osmotic delivery system has a membrane material that allows a controlled amount of fluid to enter from an exterior of the capsule, while preventing the compositions within the capsule from passing out of the capsule. The osmotic delivery system is designed to meet at least the operating pressures of 1000 psi. The membrane material is cast, calendered or extruded followed by machining (i.e., die-cutting, stamping or otherwise cutting to shape) to provide a uniform nonribbed membrane material. The capsule also includes a membrane material-retaining means that is positioned at a fluid uptake end to retain the membrane material within the capsule, even under periods of high pressure.
