The method includes retrieving a color value from a machine-readable memory residing within the paint purchasing tool. The processor retrieves a paint quantity from a machine-readable memory. The processor compiles an order for paint including the paint quantity and color value and transmits the order from the processor to a vendor for formulating the paint quantity having the color value when painted upon the surface and allowed to dry.
