  • Publication number: 20070247329
Abstract: A system and method are provided for providing electromagnetic (EM) measurement-while-drilling (MDI) telemetry capabilities using an existing mud-pulse MWD tool. An EM tool intercepts the output from the mud-pulse tool and generates an EM signal that mimics a mud-pulse pressure signal. The EM signal is intercepted at the surface by a receiver module that conditions the signal and inputs the signal into the existing pulse tool receiver. Since the EM signal mimics a mud-pulse signal, the pulse tool receiver does not require software or hardware modifications in order to process an EM telemetry mode. The EM tool can be adapted to also provide dual telemetry by incorporating a conventional pressure pulser that would normally be used with the pulse tool. A cap sub assembly for isolating the drill string is also provided that includes a pair of subs whose shoulders are separated by a non-conductive ceramic material and whose threads are separated by an insulative material, preferably a Kevlar™ cloth.

  • Publication number: 20060138253
Abstract: A shower assembly is provided that includes a shower head having an integrated diverter valve. The shower head receives a detachable hand-held shower wand. The diverter valve is arranged upstream of an adjustable connector so that length is not added to the shower assembly that would interfere with headroom. A cam shaft of the diverter valve is rotated to selectively control fluid flow between the shower head and the hand-held shower wand. Cam followers are moved linearly in response to rotation of the cam shaft to selectively block first and second outlet ports.

  • Publication number: 20060131445
Abstract: A diverter valve receives fluid from an inlet port. A camshaft is rotated within a housing to slide a cam follower along an axis to regulate fluid flow to an outlet port when the camshaft is rotated. The housing provides an inlet port and first and second outlet ports. The camshaft includes a cam lobe that is offset relative to a rotational axis of the camshaft. The cam follower is supported on the cam lobe and is movable along a longitudinal axis to selectively block at least one of the first and second ports. In one embodiment, first and second cam followers are used to selectively block outlet ports that are arranged approximately 90 degrees from one another. The first and second cam followers move in first and second directions transverse to one another. In another embodiment, a single cam follower is used to regulate flow through two outlet ports that are arranged approximately 180 degrees from one another.

  • Patent number: 3960513
Abstract: A process for reducing the amount of free and combined sulfur, such as pyritic, organic or elemental sulfur in coal; removing of these sulfur species may be made in an acid, basic or neutral solutions; at least 50 percent and up to 90 percent of sulfur, by weight, originally present in coal may be removed.
