Publication number: 20170102337Abstract: This invention relates to a tape product, and method of manufacturing the product, which incorporates a gas sensing pigment that causes the tape to change color upon exposure to gases such as hydrogen or hydrogen sulfide. The gas sensing pigment is compounded together with a silicone rubber to produce a self-fusing silicone tape which may be applied in a variety of industrial environments where hydrogen or hydrogen sulfide gas leakage is a concern. The tape may be colored to enhance visibility and/or to indicate which hazardous gas it is intended to detect. The tape may be fiber reinforced with carbon fiber to increase its longitudinal strength for industrial applications. Periodic perforations across the width of the tape may be added to facilitate the tearing or cutting of convenient lengths of the tape.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Inventors: David K. Benson, Mark C. Hatje, William Hoagland, John Poplawski

Patent number: 9453590Abstract: A method of installing a pipe mounted to a stanchion, which has three parallel vertical beams for guiding an adjustable pipe holder mounted to a center and two outer beams, and securing the pipe holder to the stanchion via a spring loaded U-channel inserted into the spaces between the two outer beams and the central beam via a tab and a set of intermeshing teeth on the U-channel, and affixing the pipe to the adjustable mount at a fixed dimension between the pipe mount and the plane surface. When two or more stanchions and associated pipe mounts are used to insert a pipe, the distance between the pipe mounts and the mounting surface create a pitch of the pipe in the direction of the sink and away from the source of a liquid insuring the proper rate of gravitational flow of the liquid.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2014Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: The MidSunGroup, Inc.Inventors: Eric Allendorf, John Poplawski

Patent number: 9373893Abstract: An RFID tag and a method for optimizing a Yagi-Uda antenna for a RFID inlay or integrated circuit is provided. The method has steps comprise: 1) selecting an electrically conductively first element; 2) generating an electrically conductive second element by taking a mirror image of the electrically conductive first element and trimming the second element; 3) generating a third element” along a line of axis of symmetry of the first two elements and on the opposite side of the first element as the electrically conductive second element; 4) adjusting the distance between the first three elements for optimum performance using Et(x)=EXP[a?x·b]+E?; and 5) optionally, if the electrically conductive first element does not contain an IC (integrated circuit) or RFID inlay, then adding an IC or RFID inlay adjacent to/or physically touching the electrically conductive first element along the line of symmetry.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2014Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: WILLIAM FRICK & COMPANYInventors: Benn Stutrud, John Poplawski

Patent number: 9273802Abstract: An apparatus, system and method of installation of a pipe in fixed association with at least one stanchion, said stanchion having a universal pipe mount for fixing the distance from a pipe inserted into the pipe holder to a mounting surface, and when two or more stanchions and associated pipe holders are used to insert a pipe, the distance between the pipe holders and the mounting surface create a pitch of the pipe in the direction of the sink and away from the source of a liquid insures the proper rate of gravitational flow of the liquid therein.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: THE MIDSUN GROUP, INC.Inventors: Eric Allendorf, John Poplawski

Patent number: 9159017Abstract: A passive, metal mount, UHF RFID tag with a high antenna efficiency is provided. The passive, metal mount, UHF RFID tag has a first securing surface and second securing surface which are both hinged at sides of a main body of the tag and which allow the tag to be secured to flat objects, round objects having various circumferences or to objects having unusual exterior surfaces. A pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape secures the tag to the object. The tag allows the main body (or “form factor”) to be offset from a metallic asset which is tracked without the metallic object negatively interfering with the RFID. The metallic surface of the asset being tracked is used to activate the Patch antenna duality of the custom design inlay, thus increasing the radiation efficiency of the driven element (integrated circuit) and ultimately the read range.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2014Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: William Frick and CompanyInventors: John Poplawski, Benn Stutrud

Publication number: 20150174864Abstract: A tape product having an elongated strip of silicone material and a polyester film that covers the upper portion of the elongated strip, the elongated strip and the polyester film having through holes across the width of the strip, the through holes repeated at intervals along the length of the tape, such that a pull of the tape in a longitudinally direction separates the elongated strips of silicone rubber self-fusing tape into tape segments. In an alternate embodiment the tape contains two elongated strips and an interposed carbon fiber thread, and the through holes repeated at intervals along the length of the tape, cuts the thread and the tape such that a pull of the tape in a longitudinally direction separates the elongated strips of silicone rubber self-fusing tape into tape segments.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2015Publication date: June 25, 2015Inventors: Mark Hatje, John Poplawski
