  • Patent number: 7432717
Abstract: A repair device for fixing a malfunctioning shunt across a failed filament in a light bulb in a group of series-connected miniature decorative bulbs includes a high-voltage pulse generator producing one or more pulses of a magnitude greater than the standard AC power line voltage. A connector receives the pulses from the pulse generator and supplies them to the group of series-connected miniature decorative bulbs. The pulse generator may be a piezoelectric pulse generator, a battery-powered electronic pulse generator, and/or an AC-powered electrical pulse generator.

  • Publication number: 20060290362
Abstract: A probe provides electrical communication between a coating and a processing system. One optional feature includes an outwardly projecting, electrically conductive engaging member that is held in a captivation structure releasably retained in a housing and engages a contact that is inside the probe and connected with the processing system. Another optional feature of the probe provides the electrically conductive engaging member in the form of a pin or pins captivated in a light-transmissive structure adjacent a light-emitting source. Another optional feature of the probe includes a restraining structure that defines a frustoconical seat for engaging a conical distal end of an electrically conductive pin that is adapted to contact the coating.

  • Publication number: 20060263258
Abstract: A system and method of automated incubating and reading of biological indicators is disclosed. In one embodiment, the automated biological indicator incubator is configured to control the temperature of incubation test wells to a desired temperature range suitable for use with a biological indicator, control the incubation period, and detect a change in the biological indicator colored media providing an indication of growth or lack of growth. In other embodiments, the automated biological indicator incubator is self-calibrating, and provides a communication interface to an external device, such as a computer. The communication interface is suitable for use to collect and analyze data associated with the biological indicator during the incubator period, and for making a determination of growth or lack of growth and success of the sterilization process as well as a permanent document of the monitoring of the sterilization process.

  • Publication number: 20060110700
Abstract: An arrangement, for use in whitening a patient's teeth includes an arched surface and an array of light-generating devices, for example, light emitting diodes positioned on the arched surface. The light-generating devices are arranged to form a relatively uniform field of light in a particular range of wavelengths, and further arranged to focus the generated light in an overlapping manner onto a patient's teeth when the mouthpiece is properly positioned relative to the patient's face. The proper positioning is aided by a number of light sources, in the visible range, that shine on the patient's face in a predetermined manner when the mouthpiece is properly positioned. To remove whatever heat is generated at the surface of the patient's teeth in the course of the procedure, the mouthpiece includes air passages between the light emitting devices, and a fan that draws air away from the patient's face.
