Abstract: Copolyester resins comprising the condensation polymerization product of (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its lower dialkyl ester (b) an aliphatic glycol and a minor amount of a substituted aromatic acid ester represented by the formula: ##STR1## where R is a lower alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and M is an alkali metal from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, and lithium.

Abstract: The system is responsive to a signal from a weight computer to selectively move levers on a lever type postage metering machine to postage selecting positions corresponding to computed postage. The system includes a plurality of actuating members with connecting members for embracing the tabs on the ends of the postage selecting or setting levers of the metering machine for moving the levers to the selected positions. The connecting members follow the natural motion of the tabs on the postage selecting levers. The operating members are moved to their selective positions by alternating rotating discs controlled by an alternately driven motor, which is driven in response to a signal from the weight computer with a comparator circuit for comparing and selecting the respective positions of the discs.

Abstract: Platform loads are applied to a single load cell through a load transfer frame. The load transfer frame is suspended for movement with the platform. An interconnection member under the influence of an overload spring normally holds the load transfer frame and the platform in a load transfer relationship. Loads in excess of a predetermined value cause the interconnection member to move out of load transfer relationship with the load transfer frame so that the platform can move against stops without damaging the load cell. The flexure plates with integral flexure rods are utilized to suspend both the load transfer frame and interconnection member.

Abstract: An alkali-metal salt of an alkoxysulfonated benzoic acid glycol ester is prepared by reacting a meta- or para-hydroxy substituted benzoic acid with an alkali-metal alkoxide and a solvent reactant consisting essentially of an alkylene glycol, and then reacting the formed glycol ester with an alkane sultone.
