  • Publication number: 20130263963
Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to an armor layer of an unbonded flexible pipe. The armor layer includes a stack of reinforcement tapes wherein at least one of a top reinforcement tape and a bottom reinforcement tape of the stack comprises a resin rich surface. In another aspect, the present disclosure relates to an armor layer of an unbonded flexible pipe. The armor layer includes a stack of reinforcement tapes wherein at least one of a top reinforcement tape and a bottom reinforcement tape in the stack comprises a radiused corner wherein the radiusing of the corner begins at a position along the vertical height of the reinforcement tape no more than one half the height of the reinforcement tape.

  • Patent number: 7175208
Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for sealing an end of a flowline to an end fitting are disclosed. Such methods include providing an end fitting housing having a bore, wherein a portion of the bore has a tapered inner surface, inserting an open end of a flexible pipe into the bore, the flexible pipe having an external layer, to create a tapered annular space between the tapered inner surface and the external layer, and positioning a ring into the tapered annular space such that the ring radially contracts upon the external layer causing the external layer to deform to create a seal.

  • Publication number: 20040219317
Abstract: Processes for manufacturing flexible pipes having extruded layers made of crosslinked polyethylene, in which the polyethylene is crosslinked by electron beam irradiation. A flexible pipe for use in sub-sea and land-based applications having an innermost core of crosslinked polyethylene, in which the crosslinked polyethylene is cured by electron beam irradiation.

  • Patent number: 6592153
Abstract: An end fitting in which to receive a flexible pipe end to be joined includes an annular seal unit comprised of a resilient elastomeric composition contained in a tapered rigid housing ring force fit in a tapered recess of a surrounding component so as to engage the outer surface of the received pipe end.

  • Patent number: 5860682
Abstract: The end fitting of a flexible flowline is provided with a mechanical clamp that secures the end fitting to the flowline while isolating the sealing area between the end fitting and the flowline from tension forces exerted on the flowline body. The pressure seal between the end fitting and the flowline is disposed behind the mechanical clamp so that the seal area of the flowline remains unaffected by flowline tension forces. The flowline is connected to the end fitting with a tubular assembly sleeve that is concentrically disposed between layers of the flow conduit adjacent the conduit end. During the initial assembly of the end fitting to the flowline, collet fingers in the assembly sleeve are snapped behind a receiving shoulder formed internally of the end fitting. The assembly sleeve may be welded to the flowline end before the sleeve is inserted into the end fitting.

  • Patent number: 5639128
Abstract: A tubular sleeve has a first end inserted between concentric inner and outer layers of a flexible flowline. The tubular sleeve is welded to the inner sleeve. The tubular sleeve has serrated outer surfaces for cutting into the outer layer of the flexible flowline, or alternatively, has saw tooth edges at its one end for cutting into the outer layer of the flexible flowline. The outer end of the tubular sleeve is fixedly attached to the interior of a cup-shaped end piece, either by a snap coupling or by a threaded connection.

  • Patent number: 4579542
Abstract: The action figure includes two pivotally mounted arms and one leg that can be rocked about a perpendicular axis. In one embodiment, the arms are mounted for pivotal movement about a common horizontal axis, whereas in a second embodiment the arms are mounted for pivotal movement about inclined axes. In either event, an actuating mechanism transmits motion from the leg that is rocked to either or both arms, doing so via either a single or double rotatable cam arrangement. The cam or cams have spiral ribs thereon by which a laterally moved follower converts its lateral movement into rotary movement for either or both arms. Where the arm axes are inclined, a cog arrangement is used which engages in a cruciformly-shaped recess on the arm mounting units so that rotation of the cam about a horizontal axis is transmitted to the arms along their inclined axes.

  • Patent number: 4578045
Abstract: The action figure includes two arms mounted to the figure's torso for rocking movement toward the torso about laterally spaced axes, the action figure also including two legs that are mounted for pivotal movement to the torso in a scissors-like fashion. Integral with the rockable mounting means for each arm is an inwardly extending shank, the shanks projecting into end portions of a coil spring. When either arm is moved laterally toward the side of the torso, the spring is flexed into a V-shaped configuration. A link extends downwardly from the center of the spring so that the flexing action imparted to the spring causes the link to move downwardly or upwardly. Each unit for pivotally mounting the legs includes a crank pin that is receivable in forwardly and rearwardly located slots at the lower end of the link.
