  • Patent number: 6345798
Abstract: A low-cost holder for labeling and displaying a tool. A tool can be inserted into the holder using high-speed automated assembly equipment. The tools are typically hex wrenches, screwdrivers, TORX drivers, open end wrenches, box end wrenches or some combination thereof. The holder includes a substrate having at least one housing defining a tool conduit with first and second openings. The tool conduit defines a cross sectional area capable of receiving the tool. At least one tool retaining structure extends across at least a portion of the tool conduit so that a frictional engagement force is generated between the tool and the tool retaining structure. The housing, substrate and tool retaining structure are integrally formed as a unitary structure.

  • Patent number: 6128981
Abstract: A folding hand tool set having a one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle and a plurality of hand tools rotatably mounted thereto. The one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle is preferably constructed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic. Spacers may be provided for rotationally isolating the hand tools. The folding hand tool set is capable of transmitting more then 110.0 Newton meters of torque without compromising the integrity of the one-piece, completely integral plastic handle. A one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle for receiving hand tools is also disclosed. The handle can withstand at least 30 Newton meters of torsional force without compromising the integrity of the handle.

  • Patent number: 5970828
Abstract: A folding hand tool set having a one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle and a plurality of hand tools rotatably mounted thereto. The one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle is preferably constructed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic. In one embodiment, spacers are provided for mechanically isolating the hand tools. The folding hand tool set is capable of transmitting more then 110.0 Newton.multidot.meters of torque without compromising the integrity of the one-piece, completely integral plastic handle. The present invention is also directed to a one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle for receiving hand tools. The handle can withstand at least 30 Newton.multidot.meters of torsional force without compromising the integrity of the handle.

  • Patent number: 4246811
Abstract: A wrench with a polygonal cross section includes an integral drive shank portion, a neck portion, and a drive head portion in a coaxial relationship along a central axis. The head portion has curved sides corresponding to the same number of sides as the shank portion with the radius of curvature of the sides being displaced outwardly from the longitudinal axis of the wrench so that each side substantially conforms to a portion of an ellipse whose minor axis lies along the central axis. The surface of the neck portion substantially conforms to an inwardly curved surface of revolution whose axis of revolution lies along the central axis of the wrench.

  • Patent number: 3997053
Abstract: A tool holder for removably holding a plurality of tools such as hexagonal key wrenches in which the holder has a passage for each tool and in which each passage has, spaced from the end in which the tool is inserted, an inwardly extending projection which allows the tool to pass when a flat side of the tool is parallel to the flat face of the projection but which grips the tool when it is turned to bring a corner edge of the tool into engagement with the flat face to clamp it. With large tools, there are two opposed inwardly extending projections, one of which has a groove into which a corner edge of said tool enters to yieldably retain the tool against rotation from its gripped position. With small tools, the tool holder has a shoulder against which the tool bears to limit the movement of the tool away from its gripped position.
