    Abstract: A collection vessel (20) is connected with inlet fitting assemblies (12, 14) for receiving waste fluids. The collection vessel is connected by a valve (74) with a drain (70) for selectively draining collected fluids. A fluid inlet (84) that is connected with an exterior water source supplies water through interconnecting tubing to rinse waste residue from the collection vessel. The water flows through a housing member (200) that surrounds a tubular member (214) of the inlet assembly. The housing member is spaced by spacers (216) from the bottom surface (220) of a well (210) surrounding the tubular member such that trapped water is drained through a drain outlet (222). Powdered reagent (166, 168) is received in a cup (26) that is carried by a drawer (160) to a position above a fluid mixing reservoir (124). A mechanical actuator (172) lifts a mechanical assembly (174) which defines the reservoir, forcing a cutting blade (180) to pierce and cut open the cup.

    Abstract: A vessel (20) which is divided into compartments (22, 24) receives medical and biological fluid wastes through inlet fitting (12, 14). As the fluid is received, air in the vessel is displaced and is discharged through a vent line (32), either to atmosphere or to a vacuum source. When a level sensor (34) senses that a level of fluid in the vessel is approaching a preselected maximum, a control circuit (40) closes a valve (30) in the vent line, blocking the discharge of air from the vessel and creating a backpressure that stops the receipt of further fluid. Tubing connected to the fittings (12, 14) is disconnected from the patient or other source of fluid and a valve (64) is manually opened to vent the vessel, allowing any residual fluid in the tubing to be drained into the vessel. A drain valve (74) is opened to drain the vessel and the cleaning cycle is commenced.

    Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing particulate ice including a case with an ice hopper therein for storage of ice. The ice hopper is provided with a downwardly sloped floor. An auger assembly is provided for moving ice within the ice hopper upwardly along the sloped floor from the lower end to dispense the ice from an opening at the upper end thereof. The apparatus is also provided with a lever arm, electric circuitry, and a motor mounted within the case in the space inside the walls thereof and under the sloped floor of the ice hopper for selectively activating the auger assembly. The auger assembly includes a rotating shaft which is sealed against the stationary ice hopper in a packing case, the packing case having a hole therethrough for receiving the rotating shaft, a seal cap and a thrust bearing. The sealing cap is provided with a seal for sealing against both the packing case and the rotating shaft.

    Abstract: An apparatus for cooling the neck moil of a blown container so that such moil can be easily removed from the container is disclosed. The apparatus has a main body portion which is connected to the rod of a blow pin cylinder so that the apparatus can be moved towards and away from the blow mold. The main body portion also has attached thereto the blow pin, a cutting collar and a rotation collar. To feed blow air to the blow pin, the main body portion provides an air channel. An annular cylinder is formed in the body portion which cylinder accepts an annular piston which piston has a cooling plate connected thereto. The cooling plate is designed to contact and flatten the moil against the cold blow mold so that the moil is cooled. By feeding compressed air to the cylinder at its upper end, the cooling plate is moved to contact the moil and by feeding compressed air to the cylinder bottom the cooling plate is retracted from the moil.
