  • Patent number: 8930083
Abstract: An electric power steering system is provided. It comprises a steering assist assembly and a motor assembly that actuates the steering assist assembly. A control module that provides steering assist commands to the motor assembly, the control module including a circuit board having a first portion having circuits thereon and a second portion that includes at least one sensor circuit that receives signals from at least one sensor subsystem. A potting material coats only the first portion of the circuit board.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 2009
Date of Patent: January 6, 2015
Assignee: Steering Solutions IP Holding Corporation
Inventors: Stephen Gillman, John R. Hoffman, Brian T. Murray, Wayne B. Thomas
  • Patent number: 8416493
Abstract: Optical systems are described that use one or more lasers to project images onto a screen or projection surface. The optical systems can be direct view optical systems or vision projection optical systems. The described systems reduce costs and power consumption compared to the use of optical systems that use LCD screens. In addition, the described optical systems permit the image to be displayed anywhere on the screen, which in turn allows the screen to have improved light transmission for enhanced target identification in the case of gun/weapon sights and other devices that are used for target recognition.

  • Patent number: 4930775
Abstract: A method of playing a bowling game in which players are allowed at least one ball to knock down pins in each of a plurality of turns of play beginning with a given or beginning pin setup. Each player is required to deliver at least one ball in each of a succession of the given pin setups during a first turn of play until the player fails to knock down a given number of pins in one of the given pin setups. As play continues, at least one pin from the beginning pin setup is eliminated to define a further turn of play of a pin setup having a reduced number of pins. The number of consectuve times in which each player has knocked down at least one pin is recorded. The winner of the game is to be the player having the highest score in terms of consecutive strings in which that player knocked down at least one pin, as accumulated during the play of the game.

  • Patent number: 4505108
Abstract: The invention is an integrated hydraulic control circuit for actuating the thrust reversers and variable exhaust nozzle on high preformance gas turbine engine powered aircraft. The hydraulic circuits for both systems are integrated into a single housing and are served by common elements. The circuit for the deployment and stowage of the thrust reverser buckets is hydraulically sequenced inhibiting the application of hydraulic power to the actuators prior to withdrawal of the locking pin. In a like manner, the thrust reversers must be fully retracted before the locking pin is deployed. The hydraulic circuit for the thrust reversers also includes a pressure compensating circuit which reduces the pressure applied to thrust reverser actuators with the thrust reversers in the stowed position.

  • Patent number: 4072041
Abstract: Surgical needles are attached to sutures with controlled pull-out characteristics by a short crimp--that is a crimp whose length is markedly less than the length of the end of the suture in the needle; with an essentially undistorted portion of the needle adjacent to where the suture emerges from the needle, and an essentially undistorted portion around the front of the suture, so that only a short section of the needle is crimped around the suture. This leaves the suture uncrushed where it emerges from the needle and hence of superior strength where sharp bends occur during use. It also leaves an undistorted portion of the suture ahead of the crimp so that on pull-out, the suture is retained not only by frictional engagement of the crimp but also by the forces required for the distortion of the head of the suture so that it will pull through the reduced section of the crimp.
