  • Patent number: 4763934
Abstract: Door lock and lock assemblies are useful, for example, in vehicle cabs. Latch and lock assemblies of known structures which can be unlocked from inside the cab while remaining locked from outside the cab require complex and bulky linkage assemblies. The subject door latch and lock assembly includes pivotal outer and inner actuator. The pivotal movement of the outer actuator simultaneously pivots the inner actuator to open a catch mechanism. Pivot movement of the inner actuator can be independent of the outer actuator. A locking lever can be pivoted to a locked position to prevent pivotal movement of the outer actuator. Pivotal movement of the inner actuator is not prevented by the locking lever. Thus, the disclosed door latch and lock assembly can be opened from inside the cab while remaining locked from outside the cab without requiring complex and bulky linkage assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4371205
Abstract: A vehicle door lock (201) and latch (204) assembly is provided whereby a key may be used to lock the door (200) and to prevent rotation of the outside door handle (214). An inside door handle (202) is provided remote from the lock assembly (201) and connected thereto by a linkage (216,232,246) which enables the inside handle (202) to operate the lock assembly (201) by overridng the key lock (308). The inside handle (202) can move the linkage to open the door (200) and lock or unlock the lock assembly (201). The outside handle (214) can open the door (200) only if the lock assembly (201) is unlocked. The lock assembly (201) may be unlocked from the outside only by turning the key in the lock (308) to the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 4363231
Abstract: A vehicle door lock (106) and latch (104) assembly is provided whereby a key may be used to lock the door (100) and to prevent rotation of the outside door handle (108). A lock handle (116) is provided inside the vehicle door (100) for overriding the key lock (110) to permit the inside and outside handles (114,108) to operate to open the door. Both the key lock (110) and the lock handle (116) when turned operate a linkage (172,168) which is connected to the locking cam (158) enabling the locking cam (158) to be moved between its locked and unlocked positions. Even with the lock handle (116) and the key lock (110) in the locked position, the inside handle (114) can be turned to move the locking cam (158) to the unlocked position and to open the door (100). The outside handle (108) can now be used to open the door also. The outside handle (108) can also be released for operation by turning the key in the key lock (110) to the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: H358
Abstract: A latch mechanism is provided wherein the pawl has a concave recess which provides a vertical clearance between the pawl and the striker to allow limited vertical movement of the door. The vertical clearance reduces contact between the pawl and the striker to reduce wear.
