    Abstract: A method is provided for making a variety of N,N'-methylene bismaleimides by introducing boron trifluoride into a maleimide mixture containing either paraformaldehyde or methanol maleimide. The N,N'-methylene bismaleimides made by the subject method can be symmetrical or unsymmetrical and are useful for making polyimides.
