The subject matter of this application more specifically pertains to catheter sheaths and catheter sheath portions that comprise a lateral opening and an deflection means such that objects moving along the longitudinal axis of a catheter are diverted from the longitudinal axis so that they exit the catheter through a lateral opening in the catheter sheath or catheter sheath portion.
