  • Patent number: 4468069
Abstract: A stationary shaft (17) is electrically connected to a roller (18) by a contactor (31) having a first section in the form of a wire loop (32) seated in a groove (32) and a second pointed section (36,37) seated within a conical recess (38) formed in the end face of the shaft and having an apex axially aligned with the axis of the shaft. An intervening section (34) is dimensioned to resiliently bias the pointed section (36,37) into firm engagement with the apex of the conical recess to make good electrical contact with a minimum degree of friction.

  • Patent number: 4333213
Abstract: A boxed and encapsulated rolled metallized film capacitor susceptible to facile machine insertion is fabricated by cyclically advancing a lead frame 32 through a number of stations (36,37) whereat pairs of leads (24,26) of the lead frame are bent downwardly and secured to end electrodes (22,23) formed on the capacitors, and then boxes (29) partially filled with encapsulant are moved over each capacitor secured to a pair of leads. Next, the lead frame is advanced to move each box and capacitor into position to receive additional encapsulant from a nozzle (38) which is projected through a feed hole (34) formed in the lead frame.

  • Patent number: 4260850
Abstract: A rolled metallized film capacitor is encased between a pair of box halves (13 and 13') each having a pair of dovetailed slots (36 and 37) formed in opposite walls so that when the box halves are assembled about a capacitor blank (10) the slots in the respective box halves are aligned with each other. The box halves are mounted in abutting relation about a pair of parallel wires (11 and 12), and then heat fusible metal (46 and 47) is deposited in the aligned slots to lock the box halves together while bonding the wires (11 and 12) to opposite ends of the capacitor blank (10). When assembled, the boxed capacitor with the laterally extending leads may be readily machine inserted or otherwise assembled in a circuit module, such as a printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4255779
Abstract: A small rolled metallized film capacitor is completely encapsulated within a thin walled box with bonded terminals projecting from an open end of the box. The terminals are formed with offset shoulder sections resting on and extending laterally beyond the opposed walls of the box. The terminals are further shaped and formed to provide narrow insertion sections that project from the shoulder sections in generally normal but slightly diverted directions.
