  • Patent number: 4986041
Abstract: A prefabricated elevator shaft module is foldable for volume reduction for transport and storage. The side walls of the module each include hinge points defining two vertical axes, one axis being inwardly foldable and the other axis being outwardly foldable. When the walls are folded together, apertures in a lower angle frame and a hinge lug are aligned for the insertion of a bolt for the mechanical fixation in the folded together position.

  • Patent number: 4986040
Abstract: A prefabricated elevator shaft includes a stack of self-supporting prefabricated shaft modules whereby upper shaft modules are supported on lower modules. Each module is of rectangular cross section and vertically spaced portions at each corner define a void between two adjacent modules. The voids are filled with a resin which, after joining together, forms a solid bed supporting the upper module in all directions. On the upper module, screw jacks extend into engagement with the lower module for vertical adjustment. On the lower module, removable guide shafts extend vertically and engage corresponding apertures in the upper module to locate the modules horizontally relative to one another during assembly of a elevator shaft. When the modules are satisfactorily located, the guide shafts can be removed and replaced with bolts to secure the upper module on the lower module.

  • Patent number: 4291499
Abstract: A propagator for the cultivation of plants in a controlled environment comprising upper and lower elongate containers having a common perforated wall, a plurality of plant seeds supported in spaced relation by or adjacent the common wall, means for injecting liquid in the form of vapor or droplets into an end of each of the elongate containers and means for maintaining a pressure in the elongate containers greater than atmospheric pressure.

  • Patent number: 4033078
Abstract: A modular housing system in which a plurality of housing units are mounted on and between two parallel load bearing longitudinal members. The load bearing longitudinal members can form a part of two partition walls and the housing units are supported on the load bearing longitudinal members at roof level. Each housing unit comprises a load bearing roof and a floor which is suspended from the roof by collapsible load bearing members which are preferably flexible cables. The roof can include two side beams which form a pressurized fluid system for conveying the units along the load bearing longitudinal members.

  • Patent number: 4028855
Abstract: A joint for use in a partition wall building assembly and method in which abutting edge surfaces forming the joint are provided with rigid self supporting fibres projecting substantially normally from the surfaces and intermeshed to resist shear movement between the surfaces. The top and bottom surfaces of a partition wall panel are provided with the projecting fibres which intermesh with fibres on the ceiling and floor surfaces to hold the panel in position. The ceiling and floor surfaces are relatively movable vertically to clamp the panel and ensure complete intermeshing of the fibres. The length and density of the fibres is such that shear movement is substantially prevented.
