  • Patent number: 6994284
Abstract: A multiple attachment system is adapted to be attached to demolition equipment. The system includes a universal body attached to the demolition equipment. A series of tools is independently attached to the universal body. The universal body includes a guide slot extending longitudinally along the universal body. Each tool includes a pair of pivotable jaws adapted to pivotably attach to the universal body with at least one linkage extending from the universal body and attachable to each jaw of the tool. A slide member is received within the guide slot, with each linkage attached to the slide member, and a piston cylinder arrangement is attached to the universal body and coupled to the slide member for moving the slide member and the jaws. The multiple tool attachment system is provided with quick change features and is designed to optimize the cutting characteristics throughout the movement cycle.

  • Patent number: 6296436
Abstract: Construction equipment such as an excavator is provided with a counterbalance assembly positioned at the aft end of the construction equipment. The counterbalance assembly includes a pair of enclosures and a counterweight. The pair of enclosures is separated by a back panel and a bottom panel connected to opposed side walls of the enclosures. The back panel, the bottom panel and the opposed side walls form an aperture for receiving the counterweight. The pair of enclosures and the counterweight are separable from each other and from the construction equipment to enable transportation of the construction equipment apart from the pair of enclosures and the counterweight.

  • Patent number: 6202308
Abstract: A reversible, indexable blade insert is removably secured to an anvil of a shear blade by one or more bolts through central bores in the blade insert. Each central bore includes recesses at each end. A support member is provided within the recess of the blade insert central bore on the inner side of the blade insert adjacent the anvil. The support member eliminates the unsupported section of the bolt in the recess, provides a positive blade insert location, and increases the blade insert to anvil surface area friction.

Abstract: A reversible, indexable blade insert is removably secured to an anvil of a shear blade by one or more bolts through central bores in the blade insert. Each central bore includes recesses at each end which are adapted to receive a head of the bolt therein. A support member is provided within the recess of the blade insert central bore on the-inner side of the blade insert adjacent the anvil. The support member eliminates the unsupported section of the bolt in the recess, provides a positive blade insert location and increases the blade insert to anvil surface area friction.

  • Patent number: 5926958
Abstract: A heavy-duty shear adapted to be attached to a backhoe includes a fixed blade member with at least one blade insert attached to the fixed blade member. A movable blade is pivotally attached to the fixed blade with at least one blade insert attached to the movable blade. A piercing tip is attached to a front end of the movable blade with the blade inserts positioned between the piercing tip and the pivot point. The piercing tip extends to blade inserts of the moveable blades. The piercing tip may include a front end having a projection on a lower side thereof along a centerline of the piercing tip. The piercing tip of the present invention is designed to more easily sever material to be cut by the shear with the primary cut of the piercing tip being substantially perpendicular to the cut achieved by the blade inserts of the shear.

  • Patent number: 5552179
Abstract: A concrete treating composition including an aqueous solution of a polymer binder and water is disclosed. The composition is added to unset concrete during various concrete finishing steps in a process to treat the upper region of the concrete and protect the finished concrete from staining, wear, erosion, damage from chemicals and weathering. In an alternative embodiment, a wetting agent is also added to the composition.

  • Patent number: 5020962
Abstract: A building is rapidly and inexpensively dismantled by dropping a heavy inverted U-shaped tool on a building or other structure from an elevation thereabove as from the upper outer end of a boom on a crane, the tool is initially suspended from a cable leading back to a winch capable of dropping the tool in a free fall. A secondary cable is attached to one of the arms of the inverted U-shaped tool inwardly from its lower end, the secondary cable leading to a secondary winch of a type capable of exerting great pulling power on the tool once it is engaged in the building or structure being dismantled.

  • Patent number: 4897921
Abstract: A material handling and metal shear attachment for a backhoe is mounted on the boom or dip stick of the backhoe for actuation by the hydraulic system of the backhoe. A fixed blade is pivotally secured to the boom or dip stick and a movable cutting blade is pivoted to the fixed blade. A hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly mounted on the fixed blade moves the movable cutting blade in shearing relation to the fixed blade. The fixed and movable blades are shaped and positioned relative to their pivotal engagement to move objects being sheared toward the blade's pivotal engagement where the cutting force is the greatest. The movable blade and the fixed blade have changeable cutting edge portions, each of the portions having a number of cutting edges on both sides so that worn cutting edge sections are replaced quickly and easily by changing the position of the cutting edge portion relative to the movable and fixed blades on which they are positioned.

  • Patent number: 4828883
Abstract: A method and material for protection from airborne asbestos and other particular contamination is disclosed that is useful for protecting the environment and individuals working therein as occurs at a job site when friable or cementitious asbestos containing coatings are being removed from existing structures. The method includes application of a combined wetting and encapsulation formula which bonds the asbestos fibers to materials in the formula so as to convert friable asbestos to non-friable asbestos and a hardening procedure and formula which places the bonded non-friable asbestos in a hardened mass so that it may be safely disposed of.

  • Patent number: 4799852
Abstract: An attachment for a loading bucket of a construction vehicle enables it to be used as a demolition device as well as a loading bucket. The attachment comprises a pair of elongated reinforcing members secured to the body of the bucket to form a rigid cross-sectionally square member on which spaced upstanding apertured plates are mounted so as to engage several surfaces of the reinforcing members. A demolition member consisting of a pair of jaws with a structural web therebetween is removably engaged on said upstanding apertured plates for pivotal movement between a first position in front of said loading bucket and a second position above said loading bucket. Piston and cylinder assemblies in said jaws engage the same and the upstanding apertured plates for moving said demolition member.
