  • Patent number: 4215086
Abstract: This telephone drop wire is insulated with an improved insulation made from a semi-crystalline, low molecular weight, ethylene-propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) which is used for a unipass insulation. The insulation has improved electrical properties which permit thinner sections of insulation to be used, so that the overall cross-section of the drop wire is of lower cost, higher temperature rating, and with moisture resistance suitable for use buried underground. The insulation is also much tougher for use where abrasion is a factor.

  • Patent number: 4077586
Abstract: This specification discloses simplified wire payout apparatus for paying out wire directly from a box in which the wire is shipped, thus eliminating the necessity of providing mechanical payout equipment such as has been required on utility service trucks. For light-weight and low cost, a corrugated paperboard carton is used as a shipping container; and provision is made for paying out the wire without removing a spool, on which the wire is wound, from the box. The spool is preferably also made of corrugated paperboard.
