  • Patent number: 6147128
Abstract: A polymer blend of fresh polymer, recycled polymer, polymeric stabilizer, wherein the recycled polymer comprising a carboxyl end group, and the polymeric stabilizer is reactive with such a carboxyl end group; also a yarn or fiber made from such a blend and an industrial fabric, especially a papermaker's fabric, made from such a yarn or fiber; also the process of making such a yarn or fiber.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1998
Date of Patent: November 14, 2000
    Assignee: AstenJohnson, Inc.
    Inventor: John R. Reither
  • Patent number: 6136437
Abstract: Yarn that is a blend primarily of a fluoropolymer and, to a lesser extent, of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid polymer; also an industrial fabric, especially a papermaker's fabric.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 1997
Date of Patent: October 24, 2000
    Assignee: AstenJohson, Inc.
    Inventor: John R. Reither
  • Patent number: 5804659
Abstract: Monofilaments useful in papermaking fabrics which contain blended polyphthalamide and fluoropolymer and a process for making these monofilaments. These monofilaments have improved dry heat stability, knot strength, loop strength and abrasion resistance. The process reduces polymer shear in the extruder and eliminates polymer build up on the spinneret face.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 1996
Date of Patent: September 8, 1998
    Assignee: Asten, Inc.
    Inventor: John R. Reither
  • Patent number: 5692938
Abstract: Papermaking fabrics comprising monofilaments of blended polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). The monofilaments are particularly useful in forming and dryer fabrics. The papermaking fabrics have significantly improved abrasion resistance characteristics over fabrics comprising monofilaments of pure PET.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 1996
Date of Patent: December 2, 1997
    Assignee: Asten, Inc.
    Inventor: John R. Reither
  • Patent number: 5605743
Abstract: A industrial fabric of monofilament of polyphthalamide having recurring units including copolymerized hexamethylene diamine and mixtures of copolymerized terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, and adipic acid. The monofilament has excellent hydrolysis, chemical, and abrasion resistance. It is particularly useful for the cloth in the forming and pressing sections of a papermaking machine.
