  • Patent number: 5584958
Abstract: Improved sealants and adhesives derived from polyisocyanates having aromatically linked --NCO groups are cured at ambient temperatures when combined with a curing agent comprising an imino- and enamino-functional compound. These two component resin systems may be employed in fabricating multi-substrate laminates, especially those comprising lignocellulosic and cellulosic materials, such as wood and paper.

  • Patent number: 4766194
Abstract: A bowling ball having at least an outer portion fabricated from the reaction of reactants comprising(i) a polyisocyanate,(ii) an active hydrogen-containing compound having an average functionality of at least 2.0, and(iii) a slip agent compound containing a moiety which imparts lubricity to said ball, said slip agent compound also having at least one active hydrogen-containing group which is reactive with isocyanate groups, said slip agent compound being present in an amount between about 0.5 and about 5 weight percent based on the weight of (i) and (ii),the ratio of (i) to the total of (ii) plus (iii) being such that the reaction is conducted at an isocyanate index between about 0.90 and about 1.30.

  • Patent number: 4504313
Abstract: Blends of polyols and polyamines containing internal mold release agents consisting of certain polysiloxanes having pendant organic groups which have functional hydroxyl, amino or mercapto groups are useful in preparing mold releasable resin moldings when made by the reaction injection molding technique.

  • Patent number: 4498929
Abstract: The invention is directed to a liquid polyisocyanate dispersions containing an unreacted polysiloxane mold release agent which has isocyanate reactive groups. Specifically, the invention is directed to polyol modified diphenylmethane diisocyanates having dispersed therein a polysiloxane compound having pendant organic chains which contain at least one hydroxyl, amino or carboxyl functional group and a silicone dispersing or inhibiting agent substantially free of isocyanate reactive groups.

  • Patent number: 4477366
Abstract: Blends of silicone surfactants substantially free of isocyanate reactivity and certain polysiloxane compounds having pendant organic chains which have at least one isocyanate reactive functional group are useful as internal mold release agents. These blends form stable dispersions in liquid polyisocyanates for use in reaction injection molding techniques.

  • Patent number: 3945981
Abstract: A light stable polyurethane elastomer is prepared in the absence of solvent from a polyol, a chain extender and an aliphatic polyisocyanate using a thio tin organic compound, containing sulfur directly attached to the tin, as a heat activated catalyst. E.g., a solventless liquid composition comprising an hydroxy-terminated polyester, a chain extender, and hydrogenated MDI, containing dibutyltin S,S-bis(isooctyl mercaptoacetate) as a catalyst, has a pot life in excess of 25 minutes at room temperature but upon heating 1 minute at 375.degree.F. gels to a solid state. Because of this combination of long pot life and rapid cure, the composition is suitable for such applications as making coated fabrics and films, and in other liquid processing techniques, e.g., rotational casting, liquid injection molding, and the like.
