  • Publication number: 20140332477
Abstract: A device, an improvement upon a funnel, to enable immiscible liquids to be dispensed from an inverted bottle to augment a new, in-situ method to extract chemicals from water directly within sampling containers.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 28, 2014
    Publication date: November 13, 2014
    Inventor: John R. Troost
  • Publication number: 20140284284
Abstract: A device, an improvement upon a funnel, to enable immiscible liquids to be dispensed from an inverted bottle to augment a new, in-situ method to extract chemicals from water directly within sampling containers.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 19, 2013
    Publication date: September 25, 2014
    Inventor: John R. Troost
  • Publication number: 20100264072
Abstract: A bottle attachment designed to facilitate the separation of immiscible solvents following the liquid-liquid extraction of organic compounds from water in original sampling bottles.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 19, 2010
    Publication date: October 21, 2010
    Inventor: John R. Troost
  • Publication number: 20090127192
Abstract: A method and apparatus for extracting organic chemicals from water. In particular an apparatus and procedure to effect the liquid-liquid extraction of semi-volatile organic compounds from water in original sampling bottles by rotating a mixture of solvent(s) and/or solvent and salt with sample water for a prescribed period of time at a prescribed rate.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 20, 2007
    Publication date: May 21, 2009
    Inventor: John R. Troost
  • Patent number: 5650560
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sampling and analyzing gas. In particular landfill gas, which consists primarily of methane and contains volatile organic components, is passed through a quantity of liquid tetraglyme to cause the volatile organic components to be absorbed in the tetraglyme. The tetraglyme containing the absorbed volatile organic components, is then disposed in a sealed container and transported to a laboratory testing facility. At the testing facility, at least a portion of the tetraglyme is withdrawn from the container, dispersed in water, and subjected to a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry procedure to analyze the volatile organic components.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 1995
Date of Patent: July 22, 1997
    Assignee: Southern Petroleum Laboratories, Inc.
    Inventor: John R. Troost
  • Patent number: 5529612
Abstract: A method for removing volatile organics from landfill gas, in which the landfill gas, which consists primarily of methane and contains volatile organic components, is passed through a quantity of liquid tetraglyme to cause the volatile organic components to be absorbed in the tetraglyme.
