  • Publication number: 20040213903
Abstract: A more controllable acoustic ceiling patch or textured material in the form of a sprayable composition includes a base, a filler, an adhesive binder, an anti-foaming agent, a suspension agent, and rubber particulates or polyethylene particulates forming an aggregate suitable for spraying in the presence of volatile organic compound (VOC) propellants without melting or deterioration. The more controllable acoustic ceiling patch is storable and dispensable from a pressurized dispenser having a delivery nozzle. An aerosol system with a spray nozzle is included on the container for selective discharge of the textured material onto a prepared patch area, which may be on a drywall or support panel so as to match and blend with the surrounding acoustic ceiling surface area in order to provide a continuous and unbroken coextensive surface texture of mechanically and visually matched material.

  • Publication number: 20040195277
Abstract: A valve assembly is disclosed for use in an aerosol spray can capable of spraying viscous materials or materials with large particulates without clogging or packing like traditional aerosol spray cans designed for spraying texture materials. The valve opening may be located at substantially any point between the bottom and the top of the container. The valve assembly includes a plurality of side-fitting dip tubes, a side-feeding mechanism, and at least one storage member connected, respectively, to at least one of the dip tubes, whereby texture material is dispensed when a central channel is aligned with a side conduit that is in flow communication with the dip tubes. This allows highly-viscous materials, such as a fire suppressant material, or materials having large particulates, such as stucco, as well as resin/catalyst or blowing-agent/urethane combinations to be sprayed from a single aerosol spray can without clogging.

  • Patent number: 6729578
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating take-off from or landing on aircraft on a short runway includes a linear array of individual linear induction motors placed along the short runway. A reaction plate mounted to the aircraft is either accelerated or decelerated by the individual linear induction motors. A control system associated with each individual linear induction motor senses the presence of the aircraft, determines its speed, and applies a predetermined amount of electrical energy to either accelerate or decelerate the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 6507160
Abstract: A system and method for moving a horizontally sliding portal closure includes a linear reluctance motor or a magnetic stepper motor and a reaction piece. The reaction piece is attached to the portal closure such that activation of the stationary mounted linear induction or magnetic stepper motor causes movement of the reaction piece which, in turn, opens or closes the portal closure.

  • Publication number: 20020167954
Abstract: A communication system includes a plurality of network nodes and communication links that link the network nodes to form a high bandwidth backbone network. At least one of the communication links forms a point-to-multipoint communications link between two network nodes. At least one of the network nodes has a point-to-multipoint remote device at one end the point-to-multipoint communications link. At least one of the network nodes has a point-to-multipoint sector transceiver at the other end of the communications link for transmitting in a sectored point-to-multipoint downstream communications link with remote devices, including the linked point-to-multipoint remote device at the network node and receiving data from the point-to-multipoint remote device at the network node in a point-to-multipoint upstream communications link.
