  • Patent number: 5884123
Abstract: A compact electrostatographic reproduction machine, including a platen for positioning a document sheet having an original image to be reproduced; and a plurality of separately framed, mutually aligning machine modules variously containing electrostatographic process elements and subassemblies. The plurality of machine modules includes a copy sheet input module (CIM) for holding and supplying copy sheets to a toner image transfer point to receive a toner image thereon; an electronic control and power supply (ECS/PS) module for providing power and logic control to various modules of the reproduction machine; an imager module for creating a latent image of the original image of the document sheet positioned on the platen; a customer replaceable process cartridge (CRU) module containing subassemblies for forming a toner image on a photoreceptive member; and a fuser module for heating and fixing a toner image on a copy sheet onto such sheet.

  • Patent number: 5496019
Abstract: A modular dual function sheet feeder/separator system for an electronic document imaging and printing system with an electronic document imaging station, a printing engine, an externally exposed sheet stacking tray, a sheet feeder/separator for separating and feeding documents from the sheet stacking tray, and at least two selectably different sheet feeding paths for the sheets stacked in the sheet stacking tray after they are separated and initially fed, the two sheet feeding paths being a first sheet path for feeding documents to the electronic document imaging station to be electronically imaged in a first operating mode and a second sheet path for feeding sheets to the printing engine in a second operating mode, and a sheet path selector for selecting between the first and second sheet paths in response to selecting between the first and second operating modes, wherein in the first operating mode the sheet stacking tray contains documents to be electronically imaged and the documents are fed through the f

  • Patent number: 4685175
Abstract: A window spring system for jamb liners 10 having a guide rails 11 formed in sash run regions 12 includes a spring 40, spring cover 60, spring anchorage 30, and sash platform 50 assembled within spring cover 60 that encloses spring 40 and has a closed back side 61 formed with opposite guide edges 62 shaped to slide into an interlock with guide rails 11 in jamb liner 10. An upper region 66 of the back side of spring cover 60 is cut away to receive spring anchorage 30, which is connected to an upper region of spring 40 and engages spring cover 60 and jamb liner 10 and preferably interlocks with jamb liner guide rails 11. A lower region 67 of the back side of spring cover 60 is cut away to receive sash platform 50 connected to a lower region of spring 40 and also preferably interlocking with guide rails 11 of jamb liner 10.

  • Patent number: 4540070
Abstract: Molded resin vibration dampener is mounted on coiled tension window balance springs arranged within spring covers. A resin wall of the vibration dampener, shaped for fitting around the tension spring, has a slot oriented longitudinally of the spring, and the wall is flexible enough to allow the slot to be spread open so that the body can be pressed onto a mid-region of the spring. Resilient fins extend obliquely outward from the body far enough to engage an interior surface of the spring cover and thereby hold the body and the spring spaced away from the spring cover to prevent rattling of the spring within the cover.

  • Patent number: 4330197
Abstract: An automatic pre-collation duplex copier in which original documents having either an odd or even number of pages may be recirculatively copied in reverse serial order yet provide properly collated output duplex copy sets. A simplex/duplex copying system is disclosed in which, when an odd number of document sheets are detected in a first, non-copying, circulation of the document sheets, the copying of the last and subsequent alternate document sheets is inhibited during the first copying circulation, whereas if an even number of document sheets are detected, the copying of the second and subsequent alternate document sheets is inhibited during this first copying circulation, and these different copying sequences are reversed for the last copying circulation. All document sheets are copied during the intermediate circulations. A compatible duplex/duplex copying system is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4299478
Abstract: An arrangement is disclosed for combining the capability for bound document copying with a document handling apparatus in a reproduction machine. To this end, an arrangement is devised wherein the document handling apparatus is contained within a frame which contains a light-tight cover for bound documents having three-dimensional shape. The arrangement includes a pivoting connection between the document handling apparatus and the frame relative to the platen of the reproduction machine and between each other so as to permit access to the platen for manual document placement and bound document copying.
