    Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for mating (e.g., structurally and sealingly securing) two components of a spacecraft to one another. The apparatus and method may include a first spacecraft component having a first mating surface, a second spacecraft component having a second mating surface adapted to align with the first mating surface, and a shape memory ring constructed from a shape memory material, adapted to mate the first mating surface to the second mating surface when subjected to a temperature change.
