Patent number: 9656944Abstract: A novel fatty acid ester having the general formula R1—COOR2 wherein R1 and R2 are hydrocarbon groups derived from a branched fatty acid and an alcohol, respectively. R1 is derived from a branched fatty acid which has been refined from a commercially available acid to give a product with a high concentration of monobranched fatty acids and a low concentration of polybranched fatty acids. The use of the ester derived from the refined fatty acid is found to be particularly useful in personal care compositions, for example as an emollient.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2012Date of Patent: May 23, 2017Assignee: CRODA INTERNATIONAL PLCInventors: Rebecca Louise Peevers, John Robin Latus, Jonathan David Townend

Publication number: 20160037969Abstract: A flare-up preventing grill is an apparatus which is useful for preventing and extinguishing flare-ups which occur while grilling. The flare-up preventing grill includes a grill lid and a grill body in which food may be grilled upon a cooking grate. The flare-up preventing grill includes a heat source used for cooking foods and for boiling water contained within a water storage system. Water from the water storage system produces steam and a mist of water droplets when boiled. The flare-up preventing grill includes a baffle system which is permits or restricts the flow of the water droplets within a grill receptacle of the grill body. The grill body includes a steam regulating outlet which controls the amount of water droplets within the grill receptacle. The grill body includes a steam overflow outlet which permits water droplets to exit the grill receptacle when the baffle system is closed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2015Publication date: February 11, 2016Inventor: John Robin Renner

Patent number: 7503126Abstract: A wall-hanging-aid device comprises four retractable tape measures encased in a housing and at least one template for aligning a hanging position or hooking position of an object on a vertical surface, such as a picture on a wall. In one embodiment a first vertical tape measure extends from the bottom of the housing and includes a measurement scale and a lip for securing the tape to an item being measured. Opposite this vertical tape measure, a single aligning fin or template extends from the housing and includes a marking-hole guide for aligning the desired hooking position on the wall. The two other tape measures extend in opposite directions generally perpendicular to the vertical tape measure.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2007Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Inventor: Antony John Robins

Patent number: 6062212Abstract: A dispensing apparatus which defines an outlet through which a metered dose of liquid from a reservoir is dispersed as an atomized spray. A droplet of liquid is metered onto a perforate membrane which is vibrated by way of a piezoelectric transducer such that atomized droplets are dispensed through the holes formed in the membrane. At each actuation of a delivery device, which provides the metered quantity of liquid, the transducer is actuated so as to vibrate the membrane for a period greater than the dispensing period required for the droplet to be dispensed. The apparatus is particularly suitable for dispensing pharmaceutical preparations.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1995Date of Patent: May 16, 2000Assignee: Bespak PlcInventors: John Robin Davison, Paul Barnes, Geoffrey Brace

Patent number: 4081367Abstract: A method for purifying waste water high in carbohydrate while obtaining therefrom a high-protein feed product. The waste water is inoculated with yeast of the type that converts starch and sugars into more yeast. The pH is adjusted to desired levels, and then the inoculated waste is circulated and recirculated in conjunction with air in amounts that enhance the growth rate of the yeast. The purified liquid waste is then separated from moist solids, and a large proportion of the moist solids is harvested as feed material, while a smaller proportion is taken for use in recycle. The proportion to be recycled is sent to a treatment zone where the pH is lowered to approximately 3.5 and where antibiotics are added, the lowering of the pH and the antibiotics both serving to suppress a substantial portion of bacterial growth while enabling the yeast to grow. After a suitable dwell time, the treated material is used in the inoculating step as the inoculant.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1977Date of Patent: March 28, 1978Assignee: Bio-Kinetics Inc.Inventors: John Robin Hulls, David Michael Donofrio
