Patent number: 11280881Abstract: A radar system is disclosed for detecting profiles of objects, particularly in a vicinity of a machine work tool. The radar system uses a direct digital synthesiser to generate an intermediate frequency off-set frequency. It also uses an up-converter comprising a quadrature mixer, single-side mixer or complex mixer to add the off-set frequency to the transmitted frequency. It further uses a down-converter in the receive path driven by the off-set frequency as a local oscillator. The radar system enables received information to be transferred to the intermediate frequency. This in turn can be sampled synchronously in such a way as to provide a complex data stream carrying amplitude and phase information. The radar system is implementable with a single transmit channel and a single receive channel.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2018Date of Patent: March 22, 2022Assignee: RodRadar Ltd.Inventors: Simon Conway, John Roulston

Publication number: 20200206665Abstract: The present disclosure includes filter aids comprising expanded perlite and methods for preparation thereof. The perlite used for making the filter aids may be processed by dehydration, expansion, milling, and/or screening. The expanded perlite has a higher density compared to expanded perlite prepared without dehydration.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2018Publication date: July 2, 2020Inventor: John ROULSTON

Publication number: 20190341698Abstract: A ground penetration radar (GPR) antenna system is integrated into a digging machine such that the system is configured to remain operable under the same environmental conditions as the machine. The system includes a GPR antenna and an inertial measurement unit (IMU). The GPR antenna includes a rectangular hollow enclosure made of a conductive material defining a cavity therein and is affixed to a bucket of the digging machine. The IMU is mounted to the hollow enclosure and provides a space trajectory over time of the GPR antenna on the bucket as the digging machine is operated.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2019Publication date: November 7, 2019Inventors: John ROULSTON, Ely LEVINE, Haim MATZNER

Patent number: 8410017Abstract: Disclosed herein are diatomite filter aid products with enhanced permeabilities and flow characteristics, and methods for enhancing the permeabilities and flow characteristics of very fine grain, low permeability diatomite ore by, in one embodiment, pre-agglomerating the ore in the presence of less than 10% water and then subjecting the pre-agglomerated ore to at least one calcination process. At least one flux may be used in the at least one calcination process. Also disclosed herein is a method of processing diatomite ore suitable for samples with high wet densities or large amounts of fine particulate matter. Also disclosed herein are methods of producing commercially applicable filter aid products from Hungarian diatomite.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2008Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: Imerys Filtration Minerals, Inc.Inventors: George Asante Nyamekye, Joseph Levay, John Roulston, John Menear
