  • Patent number: 11655754
Abstract: An engine assembly comprises: an internal combustion engine having: a combustion chamber; an air inlet for supplying air to the combustion chamber; a fuel injector for supplying fuel to the combustion chamber; an exhaust outlet for releasing exhaust gas from the combustion chamber and a rotatable drive shaft, wherein combustion of fuel in air within the combustion chamber results in rotation of the drive shaft. The engine assembly further comprises: a turbocharger system comprising: a turbine configured to recover energy from exhaust gas provided via the exhaust gas outlet; and a turbocharger compressor configured to receive energy from the turbine and thereby to compress air for use in combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber. The engine assembly further comprises: a supercharger system comprising a supercharger compressor configured to receive kinetic energy from the drive shaft and to compress air for use in combustion in the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 10934949
Abstract: A combined engine system is disclosed which may help to meet electrical power demand of a common load that can vary in an unpredictable manner. The system comprises at least one primary engine and one or more secondary engines. An after-treatment system is connected to the engines to receive exhaust flow from each of the engines. A controller is configured to operate the system in a first operating mode when only the primary engine is running and a second operating mode when the secondary engines are run together with the primary engine. Exhaust flows from each of the engines are passed through the after-treatment system which allows the after-treatment system to be heated by the exhaust flow of the primary engine before receiving exhaust flows from the secondary engines.

  • Patent number: 10815592
Abstract: The present invention relates to a thermal insulating structure including at least one baffle, to an article of wear and a sleeping bag including such a thermal insulating structure, and to a method for manufacturing such a thermal insulating structure. In some embodiments, the baffle includes a plurality of natural and/or synthetic down fibers and a plurality of low-melt fibers, wherein the low-melt fibers have been melted to the natural and/or synthetic down fibers by heating inside the baffle.

  • Patent number: 9735723
Abstract: A method to control the rotor position in a reluctance motor includes: energizing a phase winding to an energized state so as to move a rotor relative to a stator; switching the phase winding between the energized state and a freewheeling state over a pulsing period to produce a plurality of phase current pulses wherein the phase current freewheels in the freewheeling state over a freewheeling period of each current pulse; sampling rates of change of phase current and amplitudes of phase current during a plurality of freewheeling periods; de-energizing the phase winding; and computing the angular position of the rotor.
