  • Publication number: 20240109639
Abstract: An additive manufactured airframe structure includes a first additive manufactured fuselage segment including a first outer wall that extends in a normal direction from a first end to a second end, and also includes a plurality of reinforcement elements extending from the second end of, and away from, the first outer wall in the normal direction. The airframe structure also includes a second additive manufactured fuselage segment formed separately from the first additive manufactured fuselage segment and including a second outer wall that extends in the normal direction from a first end to a second end, and a plurality of receiving channels extending along the second outer wall. The plurality of reinforcement elements are received in the plurality of receiving channels and link together the first and second additive manufactured fuselage segments.

  • Patent number: 11932360
Abstract: A tuned mass damper (TMD) system in combination with a floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) platform includes a barge type FOWT platform having a hull configured to have a wind turbine tower mounted thereon. A TMD system is mounted in the hull and has a first TMD configured to operate at a first frequency, and a second TMD configured to operate at a second frequency different than the first frequency.

  • Patent number: 6069306
Abstract: The present invention relates to musical instruments and methods and apparatus for producing notes of a musical scale with real strings. More particularly, it relates to the division by frets, of the fingerboard, or neck, of a fretted stringed musical instrument, to obtain a desired musical scale with a specific set of strings. One embodiment of the invention is described in which the 12-tone equal-tempered scale is accurately produced on a guitar with steel strings having sufficient bending stiffness to cause audible intonation errors inherent in steel-stringed guitars of prior art. According to another embodiment of the invention, the musical scale is additionally tempered to approximate the 12-tone, equal-tempered scale while minimizing audible beats that occur when playing intervals and chords due to inharmonic frequency components inherent in tones generated by vibrating guitar strings. Manufacturing methods with respect to wound strings, and with respect to boundary conditions, are also explained.

  • Patent number: 5770585
Abstract: This invention is directed to a homogenous water-in-perfluorochemical stable liquid dispersion for acceptable therapeutic administration of a drug to the lung of an animal. The dispersion includes a perfluorochemical liquid, water, surfactant and drug, wherein the water is homogeneously dispersed in the perfluorochemical to form a stable water-in-perfluorochemical liquid dispersion. The perfluorochemical constitutes greater than 50% by volume of the dispersion, and the drug is contained in the dispersion in an effective therapeutic amount. The invention further includes a method of delivering a drug to the lung of an animal. This aspect of the invention includes administering a stable homogenous water-in-perfluorochemical liquid dispersion to the animal lung or a section thereof. If desired, the method may further include delivering a breathable gas to the lung with a mechanical ventilator during the administration.
