  • Patent number: 5584347
Abstract: An arrangement for sensing the draft force on a linkage such as a tractor three-point linkage comprises a backplate (12) with flexible webs (16) extending from it.Depending from the webs (16) are spurs (18) which, at their lower end, join each other and form a rearwardly extending member (24). A bore (15) extends through the backplate (12) and rearwardly extending member (24), in which a force sensing pin (30) is received. The bracket may be made from a single casting.

  • Patent number: 5429698
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for printing and collating multiple webs of materials, particularly for use in creating personalized direct mail materials, are disclosed. The invention includes a single, highly flexible press having components capable of being driven at unequal speeds to account for different sizes of insert materials and their associated envelopes. Operating a single press in this manner reduces the amount of waste web material which otherwise would be present. The press similarly includes novel collating and inserting apparatus whereby each outgoing envelope is effectively formed around the "insertable" materials. Control mechanisms and verification systems associated with the press additionally maintain any personalized materials in registration, permitting a single press to produce the entire direct mail piece from multiple webs with minimal waste.

  • Patent number: 5054573
Abstract: A vehicle such as a tractor having front and rear drive axles with crown wheel and pinions (10 and 11) driven from a prime mover (E) via an inter-axle differential (12). The rear drive axle has left and right hand brakes (40) and the inter-axle differential has a lock (22, 23, 24) for locking-up the differential. The lock is biased to an engaged condition by a spring (25) and an hydraulic actuator (27). A control system (CS) is provided which is arranged to engage the lock (22, 23, 24) when both rear axle brakes (40) are applied.

  • Patent number: 4590817
Abstract: A gear selector means for use with a transmission having a main change speed gear set (X) and one or more associated range change gear sets (Y, Z). The selector means includes a selector member (50) which is movable to a number of positions (1, 2, 3, 4) for the selection of a number of change speed ratios of the transmission and which has a neutral position or series of positions (n) corresponding to a neutral condition of the transmission. The selector member is movable from the or a neutral position (n) to an "up" position (52) in which upward range changes can be made in a predetermined sequence (A, B, C, D) and to a "down" position (53) in which downward range changes can be made in a predetermined sequence, each movement of the selector member to the "up" or "down" position being arranged to change the operative range of the transmission either up or down to the next range in the predetermined sequence.
