  • Patent number: 4401841
Abstract: An electrical insulator assembly and method of manufacturing same, having a generally cylindrical or conical body portion formed of a breakable cast solid insulation system and a reinforcing member having a corrugated configuration and formed of a web or mesh type reinforcing fabric. When the breakable body member has been broken, the corrugated configured reinforcing web member provides a path of escape for pressurized insulating fluid while limiting the movement of body member fragments in the direction of escape of the pressurized fluid.

  • Patent number: 4140337
Abstract: In making a quick connection and hermetic seal for coupling low pressure systems of a type such as heat pipes and the like, a pre-installed fitting forming the sealing portion of a quick connection assembly is disposed in a depression formed in the sidewall of the low pressure chamber so that the chamber and the sealing portion of the connecting assembly can be fully processed together. The open end of a second system is coupled into the inserted sealing fitting by means of threads formed about a pipe plug device and carried by the tubular end portion of the second system.Sealant applied between the threads of the plug and fitting so that as the plug advances along the fitting a gas-tight seal will be obtained. The fitting includes a sealing membrane disposed across the inserted end thereof to be upset by advancing movement of the tubular end portion carried by the plug.

  • Patent number: 4038486
Abstract: An improved supporting insulator assembly is provided for high-voltage metal-enclosed gas-insulated equipment. The supporting insulator assembly is preferably cast onto the inner high-voltage conductor by improved attachment means, and the inner high-voltage gradient conditions are controlled around the inner high-voltage conductor, or bus by an improved shielding construction.Additionally, an improved construction provides an expansion joint so as to allow axial longitudinal movement of the inner high-voltage conducting elements relative to the outer grounded metallic sheath, or casing due to differences in temperature and coefficients of thermal expansion therebetween. An additional feature of the invention is the improved connection of the supporting insulator structure with adjacent high-potential components.Another important feature of the present invention is the truncated configuration of the supporting insulator assembly.

  • Patent number: 4024339
Abstract: An improved supporting insulator assembly is provided for high-voltage metal-enclosed gas-insulated equipment in which the peripheral flange portion is formed of two separate members, one member being an internal insulating spacer-member supporting the inner high-voltage conductor, and the other member being, optionally, of insulating or metallic material, and constituting an outer annular ring-shaped clamping support member, the latter being under high-loading pressure between the two confronting metallic flange portions of the outer metallic grounded casings, or pipe sections.
