  • Patent number: 5038486
Abstract: Miter apparatus for use with a cutting tool having a table top containing an alignment groove. The miter apparatus includes a guide bar adapted to slidably fit in the alignment groove, a head assembly pivotally secured to the guide bar, and a telescopic fence assembly secured to the head assembly. The fence assembly is adjustable in length and includes an inner rail telescopically received within an outer rail, each rail being provided with a retractable workpiece stop which is pivotally mounted on its rail so as to be movable from an operative to a retracted position. A clamping mechanism may be provided for securing a workpiece in position against the guide bar.

  • Patent number: 4784256
Abstract: Automatic apparatus for assembling elongated, transversely curved blades in a fixture for holding the blades in a predetermined spaced relationship corresponding to the blade spacing in a centrifugal blower wheel. A first transfer assembly transfers individual blades from a die press to a conveyor and a second transfer assembly transfers individual blades from the conveyor to the fixture. Each blade is held in a fixed position on the first transfer assembly by suction and/or magnetic force, on the conveyor by magnetic force, on the second transfer assembly by magnetic and/or suction force, and in the fixture by a resilient clamping mechanism. A pushing device moves alternate blades axially relative to the remaining blades on the conveyor so that blades are loaded in the fixture with flanges at opposite ends of adjacent blades in a staggered relationship.

  • Patent number: 4749013
Abstract: A woodworking apparatus including a work carriage having a base mounted on a bed for rectilinear sliding movement along a first axis in a first plane and a work platform mounted on the base for rectilinear sliding movement along a second axis parallel to the first axis and in a second plane parallel to the first plane. A tool carriage carrying a motor driven rotary cutting tool is mounted on the bed for rectilinear sliding movement along a third axis transverse to the first and second axes. Levers are provided for actuating movements of the base, the platform, and the tool carriage. A gas spring may be connected with the tool carriage to counterbalance the weight of the tool carriage assembly. A template and following stylus also may be provided for guiding the tool carriage relative to the work carriage in accordance with a predetermined pattern. The work surface supporting a workpiece may be tilted relative to the rotational axis of the cutting tool.
