  • Patent number: 4842470
Abstract: In an automobile tow truck, the towing bed of the present invention includes a concave floor having a radius of curvature of 50 feet. Channel beam segments are welded to the lateral edges of the concave floor. The lower flange of the beam segments terminates slightly beyond the mid-line of the concave floor. The central web of the beam segments spans between the beam flanges, but is trimmed to match the curvature of the curved floor beyond the point of termination of the lower flange. A vertical plate is welded at the front edges of the concave floor and the channel beam segments. A triangular plate is welded at each side of the towing bed to the upper flange of the channel beam segments, the vertical plate and the concave floor. An additional section of metal plate is welded to the underside of the concave floor at the rear approach edge of the towing bed to add strength and durability.

  • Patent number: 4487544
Abstract: Disclosed is a towing vehicle or wrecker of the type in which a winch drawn cable is attached to the trailing portion of an auto or truck to be towed and a carrier member ascends an inclined track elevating the leading portion of the load as the cable is winched in. The apparatus is characterized by pivotal mounting of the inclined member with a hydraulic positioning cylinder for aiding in acquisition of a load, such as a disabled auto which is ditched or laterally displaced from the wrecker. The pivoted, inclined member also facilitates cornering of the wrecker and load when in motion.

  • Patent number: 4480339
Abstract: A garment waistband comprising an elastic band as well as a fabric web which is attached to the gdhmet body dnd to the elastic band and which covers segments of the upper portion of, and restrains the elongation of, the elastic band. The fabric web does not cover the area of the elastic band near the side seams of the gdrment, however; in this area, the elastic band stretches more easily than in areas covered by the fabric web. This waistband thus allows the garment to fit snugly and resists rolling, yet provides an extra degree of extensibility for comfort and allows a proper fit even where the wearer has experienced weight losses or gains.

  • Patent number: 4304519
Abstract: A towing vehicle with a boom pivotal about a horizontal axis and a second axis perpendicularly thereto enabling the boom to be moved to a position over a disabled vehicle located along side the towing vehicle. A pair of power cylinders is attached to the boom and is operable to swing the boom with load attached to locate the load or disabled vehicle immediately behind the towing vehicle. An elongated support is movable downwardly against the ground behind the towing vehicle to provide stability as the load is lifted and swung from a position aside the towing vehicle to a rearward position.
