  • Patent number: 4697534
Abstract: A sailing vessel is provided with an improved rig which utilizes a fabricated adapter having a downwardly depending leg rotatably held in the hull of the boat and having a first forwardly angled arm for carrying a rigid mast spar and a rearwardly angled arm carrying a rigid boom spar. The sail has a curved leading edge attachable to the mast spar and a foot attachable to the boom spar which causes the mast and boom spars to be bowed toward each other and under continuous but adjustable tension resulting in a taut sail. Since the mast spar is forward of the center of rotation of the rig. The center of effort of the sail is positioned closely adjacent, but slightly downwind of the center of rotation of the rig resulting in easier handling of the sail, greater rig efficiency and improved balance of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4563796
Abstract: A retainer for sheet material is provided which is formed of resilient memory type material and which has two oppositely acting and opposed legs which provide a gripping action therebetween. Provision is made for one of the legs to act as an indicia carrying surface and a back surface of the retainer can be adapted to be adhesively mounted on a flat surface.

  • Patent number: 4530156
Abstract: A device for drawing circles which allows for an infinitely adjustable radius within a given range is provided by the use of a rotatable disk having an access hole therethrough offset from a center point of, but carried on a disk rotatable with respect to a fixed sheet member. The larger disk is freely rotatable and the disk with the access hole is prevented from rotating while the circle is being drawn.

  • Patent number: 4353166
Abstract: A device for drawing circles is provided which is compact in form and has no sharp points. The device is comprised of a disk rotatably carried on a sheet adjacent and concentric to a hole in the sheet. The disk and sheet each have a series of holes therein spaced from a center point of the disk into which the tip of suitable writing instrument may be placed to rotate the disk or sheet with respect to the other, thus inscribing a circle on a desired surface.

  • Patent number: 4258493
Abstract: A method and device for temporarily supporting advertising pieces or the like on a vertical surface. The device includes a flexible backing band having a pair of spaced, parallel permanent magnet strips secured thereto. The magnet strips are of opposite polarity and arranged to clamp an advertising piece therebetween when the flexible band is folded over to position the magnets in an aligned facing orientation. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is provided on the flexible band to affix the device to a suitable vertical surface to display the advertising piece.

  • Patent number: 4170215
Abstract: An inexpensive mechanical launcher for launching certain toy disks consists of two predominantly planar pieces of pre-formed plastic material joined together forming a slotted receptor and a handle portion. A toy disk is inserted in the slotted receptor and engages a catch with its outside rim. A spring for biasing the disk against the catch is preloaded during insertion and is engaged with a notch on the disk rim. A plunger having a manually engageable trigger retracts the catch and allows the spring to return to its released position, thus flinging the disk in an outwardly spinning trajectory which can be influenced and altered by varying the axial position of the launcher before release.

  • Patent number: 4119316
Abstract: An aerodynamic dart toy for amusement of children and adults includes a dart body having a blunt magnetic nose and a lightweight aerodynamic body formed in one piece by selective folding of a die cut flat sheet material. The device can be manually propelled over a significant distance to strike a metal target and attach itself thereto.

  • Patent number: 3959915
Abstract: A toy utilizes a resilient elastic impeller to spin and propel a circular disk having aerodynamic characteristics whereby the user can easily control the path of flight of the circular disk in the atmosphere. The impeller is engaged in a slot in the periphery of the disk which secures the impeller as the impeller is flexed by the application of opposing force by the user. When the force is released on the disk, the disk is spun and propelled forward by the deflexing of the impeller.
