    Abstract: An example device includes a plurality of processing elements configured to perform a processing operation; memory cells interconnected with the processing elements, the memory cells organized into a plurality of wordlines, each wordline containing a set of columns; a controller interconnected with the processing elements, the controller configured to: for each coefficient vector of a coefficient matrix for the processing operation: assign a wordline identifier to each processing element; assign a column identifier to each processing element; write coefficients from the coefficient vector to the corresponding memory cell defined by the wordline identifier and the column identifier for each processing element; wherein the wordline identifiers and the column identifiers are assigned to the processing elements to load the coefficients of the coefficient vector in a diagonalized pattern in the memory cells.

    Abstract: An example computing device includes: a bank of processing elements; and a controller configured to: obtain an input vector having a plurality of input attributes, the input vector to be processed by a decision tree to identify a determined outcome; control the bank of processing elements to process the input vector to obtain a result vector, wherein each input attribute is processed by one of the processing elements in the bank to obtain a result, and wherein the result vector comprises a combination of the results; control the bank of processing elements to accumulate the result vector with an outcome vector for each potential outcome of the decision tree to obtain a respective outcome metric for each potential outcome; and select one potential outcome as the determined outcome of the decision tree for the input vector based on the respective outcome metrics for each potential outcome.

    Abstract: The invention synchronizes and mixes multiple streams at different sampling rates by selectively accessing portions of the received streams in a sequence that allows for independent input and output frame rates. The sequence that is used to access the received streams is irregular with regard to the output frames, and formulated such that the input and output frames are synchronized to a super-frame that corresponds to a least common multiple frame in a conventional synchronizing and mixing system.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, an automatic multichannel equalization control system uses programmable multichannel templates containing equalization control values for a programmable multichannel audio processor that selectively controls each channel of multichannel audio using the equalization control values. The system also optionally uses an adaptive equalization template interface to facilitate input of user presets that are incorporated in the stored equalization templates for each audio medium. When the audio medium's identification number (ID) is read from the medium header or a particular track, the system selects the appropriate equalization template preset by the user and programs the programmable multichannel audio processor (equalizer) to effect desired audio output.

    Abstract: An adaptive speaker compensation system and method, such as for use in a multimedia computer, stores speaker response filter coefficients for each speaker and adaptively compensates received audio for non-linear speaker characteristics based on the stored speaker response filter coefficients. The speaker response filter coefficients preferably represent an inverse response of a speaker response curve for each speaker in the audio system. Preferably a library memory containing prestored speaker characteristic data, such as the speaker response filter coefficients, is selectively accessed by the adaptive speaker compensation system to download the speaker response filter coefficients based on identification of a speaker type and channel for which the speaker is being used.

    Abstract: A system and method for providing channel balancing and room tuning for a multi-channel audio surround sound speaker system passes source audio to automatically configured multi-channel compensation filters to provide equalization on a per channel basis for speakers having differing response characteristics. The speakers correspond to each of the surround sound channels. To automatically configure the multi-channel compensation filters, a controller generates common room tuning deviation data based on the frequency response characteristic data of each of the speakers. In addition, the system and method also generates room corrected channel deviation data for each channel by correcting a selected speaker response based on room tuning compensation requirement data derived from the common room tuning deviation data. Automatic channel balancing is provided by determining channel balancing compensation requirement data based on the corrected channel deviation data for each channel.

    Abstract: An adaptive audio signal compression computer system corrects multiple input audio streams, such as digital multichannel audio streams from various audio sources, for equalization deficiencies caused primarily by attenuation factors experienced by a listener's human ear. A compression stage (filter stage) adaptively compresses (filters) an input audio stream by selecting the ear response data that includes a plurality of selectable sets of filter coefficients wherein each set of filter coefficients corresponds to an inverse audible listening response curve for a predetermined audio volume level. When available from an audio source, the system provides audio source type data to an adaptive compression stage and also generates a compression control signal in response to the source type data to control the compression.

    Abstract: An automatic volume control system and method for use in a multimedia computer system having at least one speaker and at least one audio generating device accumulates a status of the audio generating device to determine if it is on or off. The system recognizes an audio mute event notification signal from a notification device, such as an incoming telephone call notification signal, and selectively generates a control signal for use in varying the volume to the at least one speaker in response to the detection of the notification signal to selectively control audio from the audio generating device. The system also accommodates multiple audio generating devices. The system analyzes the location of the telephone, speakers and audio generating devices to determine the type of action that is necessary.
