    Abstract: A polyurethane foam body which has an alkaline substance suspended therein is provided with a slanted slit so that when the steel bell ring of a pipe telescopingly receives the steel spigot ring of another pipe the polyurethane foam body is compressed such that the resilient forces thereof do not cause the pipes to separate when united to form a joint.
