  • Patent number: 7419674
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compositions comprising a population of alphavirus replicon particles comprising alphavirus replicon RNAs, wherein a first replicon RNA comprises nucleic acid encoding cytomegalovirus pp65 and IE1 protein or immunogenic fragments thereof, and a second replicon RNA comprises nucleic acid encoding cytomegalovirus gB protein or an immunogenic fragment thereof, and wherein each of the two replicon RNAs is contained within a separate alphavirus replicon particle.

  • Patent number: 7237182
Abstract: A method for selective recovery in a communications environment is provided that includes building a recognizable bit pattern into one or more subframes that are associated with a communication flow. One or more of the subframes may be positioned into a superframe. In cases where one or more errors are present in the superframe, the superframe may be demultiplexed such that one or more of the subframes included in the superframe are analyzed and then discarded or forwarded based on the presence of one or more of the errors.

  • Patent number: 5944286
Abstract: A joint assembly and an aircraft wing assembly containing such a joint assembly are provided. Each joint assembly for connecting together a first member (1) and a second member (4) comprises a second channel member (5) affixed to the first member (1) having a first channel member (12) with sidewalls (15, 16) engageable with first and second elements (8, 9) of the second channel member. The second member (4) has a flange which engages a flat surface (14) of a base portion (13) thereof. The various elements are held together by bolts (19, 20, 23) and tolerance adjustment in both horizontal and vertical directions is provided by mutual sliding of the surfaces prior to drilling apertures for the bolts.

  • Patent number: 5594546
Abstract: Diamond anvil cell for spectroscopic investigation of materials at high temperature, high pressure and shear. A cell is described which, in combination with Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, permits the spectroscopic investigation of boundary layers under conditions of high temperature, high pressure and shear.

  • Patent number: 5328406
Abstract: A fascia ventilator has a polyvinyl chloride extruded, unitary panel having an upper panel section adapted to be attached to a roof-covering support member, an intermediate section forming a drip edge, and a lower section supported parallel to the fascia board. In one version, the baffle is mounted between the lower panel section and the fascia board. In another version the lower edge of the panel is perforated and bent to form a baffle for receiving air passing between the ventilator and the fascia board. The ends of adjacent ventilator panels may be joined in an end-to-end overlapping connection.

  • Patent number: 4385428
Abstract: Apparatus and method for driving an object such as a nail covered by a deformable member such as a shingle without damage to the latter. Force is applied by means such as a hammer to a force distributing member in engagement with the deformable member. A force receiving member is positioned opposite the force distributing member and the deformable member is positioned between the force distributing and force receiving members. The force is received from the deformable member by the force receiving member and applied to the object to drive it.

  • Patent number: 4080168
Abstract: A rapid, safe and efficient process for the digestion and destruction of organic matter in materials of biological origin. Acid mixtures (nitric and perchloric acids for ashing; appropriate acid mixtures for other digestions) are added to the sample and then heated internally by absorption of microwave energy from a precisely controlled field within a specially modified microwave oven.Apparatus used for the digestions include a microwave oven equipped with an internal, acid-fume resistant box or liner, a positive flow ventilation system through the box, and an acid-fume trap or scrubber for treating the exhaust fumes from the box. Additional apparatus includes a precise timing system for controlling the delivery of microwave energy, or an interrupted duty cycle timing system.
