  • Patent number: 5161702
Abstract: A display device having a front cartridge section against which objects can be stacked, one against the other, in a first line; first and second strips each wound about itself to define first and second coils with first and second axes; structure for connecting the strips to the front cartridge section so that the axes of the coils are transverse to the first line; and a rear cartridge section having first and second legs which are extendable at least partially through the first and second coils. By moving the rear cartridge section away from the front cartridge section in the first line with the first and second legs extended into the first and second coils, the legs cause the first and second coils to unwind, whereby a force is developed on the first and second strips tending to draw the front and rear cartridge sections towards each other so that an article to be displayed can be resiliently captured in a display position between the front and rear cartridge sections.

  • Patent number: 4791744
Abstract: A rear illuminated device for displaying prices of articles is of the type that includes a housing, a light source in the rear of the housing, a front frame mounted on the housing which has a plurality of horizontal rows of windows, each of said windows being adapted to display one rear illuminated numeral of the price of an article, a film strip carrier in closely spaced cooperating relationship with each window, and each said carrier cooperating with the front frame to define a guide slot in which a section of a film strip is held effectively flat in the window, and a film strip supported on each carrier for endwise movement through a guide slot, each section of a film strip being adapted to display one of the numerals from 1 through 0 in the window. Each film strip is a continuous loop which loosely encircles the film strip carrier and is positioned entirely forward of the light source in the housing, and adjacent film strip loops are in side abutting relationship so as to be mutually confining.

  • Patent number: 4537316
Abstract: A modular retail counter display apparatus for merchandise, such as cigarettes, which is displayed and sold in small packages. Two identical trays may be connected to a column, either with a separate means supporting the column or with one or both trays supporting the column. A sign holder slides onto the top of the column and a ratchet engagement between the sign holder and the column permits a sign to be mounted at any desired height on the column. The trays may be connected to the column in vertically spaced relationship, or the trays may be secured together in end abutting relationship and connect to the column in a horizontal arrangement. Alternatively, the trays and column may be supported by means of a clamp assembly either upon a horizontal rail or upon a vertical pole.

  • Patent number: 4494658
Abstract: A modular display device for articles of merchandise which are sold at retail in small packages includes a display tray, an advertising sign frame adapted to receive and hold an advertising sign, a support member to which the advertising sign frame is detachably connected by resilient tongues on the frame which interengage with slots in a front wall of the support member, and a laterally extending web which is an extension of a bottom wall of the support member that enters a laterally open slideway on a bottom wall of the tray adjacent a tray end wall and has a hooked finger engaging a recess in the slideway so the advertising sign frame is immediately adjacent said tray end wall.
