  • Patent number: 6155258
Abstract: An oxygen delivery system provides supplemental oxygen on demand from an oxygen source to a human being via an oxygen mask. The system includes a regulator having an inlet and an outlet. The regulator is removably secured to the oxygen source. A release pin is disposed in the regulator for quickly actuating operation of the regulator. Prior to operation, the release pin maintains the regulator in a closed position so that the regulator prevents the flow of oxygen from the oxygen source. Upon removal of the release pin, the regulator assumes an open position so that it permits the flow of oxygen from the oxygen source, through the regulator, and to the human being. The system is rechargeable and may be carried on the person or stored at home for emergency use.

  • Patent number: 5485983
Abstract: A gas metering valve is provided for selectively providing a series of different calibrated gas flow rates. The valve includes a valve body having a gas inlet, a gas outlet, a chamber situated between the gas inlet and gas outlet. The valve also includes a metering element located in the chamber. The metering element is formed to include a plurality of passageways for permitting gas flow from the gas inlet to the gas outlet. The metering element is movable relative to the valve body to position a selected passageway in communication with the gas inlet. The valve further includes a seal apparatus including a sealing disk in sliding contact with the metering element. The sealing disk has an aperture formed therethrough aligned with the gas inlet for sealing said chamber against the transmission of gas therethrough except when the metering element is oriented with the selected passageway in registry with the aperture in the sealing disk.

  • Patent number: 5016673
Abstract: A flow selector device whose fluid flow is regulated by the rotational setting of a rotor body in a housing; and although the metering passageways have outlets spaced from the axis of the rotor and its manipulating shank, other passageways are provided in the housing, which channel the fluid then to an outlet in and concentric with the rotor and its flow-rate adjustment shank. One of those other passageways is an annular groove formed into the rotor's manipulating shank, leading to a radial passageway in the shank, thus carrying fluid to the shank outlet channel regardless of the rotational setting of the rotor. Another of those other passageways is in the housing; and its provision is facilitated by forming it to open onto an outer face-portion of the housing, then sealing the outer portion of the passageways by a ball member forced into the outer end of the passageway. The rotor is held axially of the rotor by a snap ring, and by a nylon ring between the snap ring and the housing.
