  • Patent number: 11977065
Abstract: An electronic display device includes a housing for an electronic display to form an assembly. A thermal management subsystem forms part of the assembly and utilizes ingested ambient air from immediately outside said assembly to thermal manage the assembly. Data is received from one or more sensors pertaining to at least one characteristic of the ingested ambient air at times during operation of the assembly. Operating parameters of the assembly are automatically adjusted when the data indicates a difference in the measured at least one characteristic at the times, and when said difference exceeds a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20230333423
Abstract: A display assembly with condensation control includes an electronic display and airflow pathway located within the housing. At least one sensor is located along said airflow pathway. A controller in electronic communication determines a local dewpoint and an internal temperature for the display assembly based, at least in part, on data received from the at least one sensor, calculates a dewpoint spread between the dewpoint temperature and the internal temperature, and initiates modified operations where said dewpoint spread is less than a predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20220295666
Abstract: Condensation control systems and methods for display assemblies are provided. A cover forms part of a housing for an electronic display, the housing accommodating an airflow pathway. Temperature sensors located along the airflow pathway measure temperature which is reported to a controller. The controller determines a dewpoint temperature and calculates a dewpoint spread between the dewpoint temperature and the measured temperature. Where the dewpoint spread is less than a predetermined threshold, modified operations are initiated by the controller.

  • Patent number: 11293908
Abstract: A display assembly which detects abnormal operating conditions, such as gas recirculation or airway occlusion, is provided. An electronic display is located within a housing. An airflow pathway travels through the housing and is configured to accept, circulate, and exhaust air by way of one or more fans. One or more sensors measure characteristics of the air. Weather conditions for a location of the display assembly are gathered, measurements from the sensors are received, and a determination is made as to whether the measurements of the ingested air are within a margin of error expected measurements derived from the gathered weather conditions. An alert is generated if the measurements of the ingested air are not within the margin of error.

  • Patent number: 10607520
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments herein provide a method for environmental adaptation of electronic display characteristics, comprising the steps of determining the sunset and sunrise times for the day and determining whether the present time is between sunrise and sunset or between sunset and sunrise. An exemplary method would then proceed by selecting a gamma for the display based on whether the present time is between sunrise and sunset or between sunset and sunrise, and driving the display at the selected gamma. The gamma can further be selected based on Artificial Ambient Light Sensor (AAS) data, which can be calculated during sunrise and sunset transition times.

  • Patent number: 10440790
Abstract: An electronic display system having an electronic display with illumination control, wherein illumination control may be based on one or both of the system operating temperature and a light ratio defined as the ratio of ambient light to light emitted by an illumination means of the electronic display. When adjusting the emitted light level of the illumination means, some exemplary system embodiments may consider temperature only, some embodiments may consider light ratio only, and some embodiments may consider both temperature and light ratio. Sensors may be provided to measure system operating temperature, as well as ambient light level and illumination means light output. Illumination control is provided by using a controller to adjust the output of a power source that supplies electrical energy to the illumination means if the temperature and/or light ratio falls outside of an acceptable range.
