  • Publication number: 20060063462
Abstract: A microdevice that comprises a device microstructure (38) and vent channel (34) in a wafer (14) that is sandwiched between a substrate (10) and a cap (16). The cap (16) and substrate (10) have recesses (41, 21) around the microstructure (22) to define a cavity. A vent (25) is connected to the vent channel (34) and subsequently to the cavity. The vent (25) is used to evacuate and seal the microstructure (38) in the cavity. A getter layer (32) can be used to maintain the cavity vacuum. • Publication number: 20060043241
Abstract: An in-flight refueling system, bladder device and method are provided for enhancing the stability of an elongate hose extending from a tanker aircraft during an in-flight refueling operation. The various embodiments of the present invention provide a compact, lightweight, and low-profile bladder device that may fill with fuel from a fuel conduit defined in the elongate hose so as to minimize the occurrence of oscillations within the elongate hose by selectively adding additional weight to a portion of the elongate hose. Thus, embodiments of the present invention may minimize the occurrence of oscillations in the elongate hose by stabilizing the elongate hose as it extends from the tanker aircraft during an in-flight refueling operation.

  • Patent number: 6882358
Abstract: Apparatus, system, and method for enabling eye-to-eye contact in video conferences. In general, the system and apparatus employ means for generating video images corresponding to real images that would be produced if a video camera were disposed at or behind a video display having a field of view directed toward a target object such as a participant. An image (either real, reflected, or holographic) is formed based on light reflected off of the target object, and object light corresponding to the image is received by the video camera, which produces a video signal containing the image. Typically, the means for generating the video images employs direct imaging, reflective imaging, or holographic imaging. The means for generating the video images are also configured in such a manner as to be substantially transparent to video conference participants viewing the display images on the video display.
