  • Publication number: 20070123257
Abstract: Method for transferring service for a mobile station call signal from a first base transceiver station to a second base transceiver station in a wireless mobile telecommunication system, while a call is in progress. The method can include receiving at a base transceiver station an access burst from a mobile station with a call already in progress and requiring service from the base transceiver station. Based on the received access burst, the base transceiver station can electronically steer a beam of an adaptive antenna array of the base transceiver station toward a location of the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 6134229
Abstract: A control message communication mechanism for use in a broadband transceiver system that includes multiple digital signal processors for performing real time signal processing tasks. One of the digital signal processor (DSPs) is designated as a master DSP. The remainder of the DSPs are arranged in rows and columns to provide a two-dimensional array. A pair of bit-serial interfaces on each DSP are connected in a vertical bus and horizontal loop arrangement. The vertical bus arrangement provides a primary mechanism for the master DSP to communicate control messages to the array DSPs. The horizontal loop mechanism provides a secondary way for DSPs to communicate control information with one another, without involving the master DSP, such as may be required to handle a particular call, without interrupting the more time critical primary connectivity mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5585850
Abstract: A technique for transmitting wideband signals such as video signals over a communication system such as a cellular or Personal Communication System (PCS) which only has narrowband channels. The video signal is first digitized and compressed, and then forwarded to a commutating switch, together with any other narrowband signals which are to be transmitted using the same system. The commutating switch demultiplexes the video signal into multiple digital channel signals. The number of digital channel signals dedicated to carrying the video signals may vary as a system controller determines the availability of channel space in the system. The output channels from the switch are then each modulated as required by the particular wireless communication system in use, and forwarded to a digital combiner to produce a wideband composite signal.
