  • Patent number: 10250756
Abstract: Methods for provisioning wireline or wireless services and goods to at least one prepaid or postpaid customer in a communications network are provided. In one such method, a request is received for at least one service or good from a prepaid customer and it is determined based upon the request if sufficient funds are available to pay for the requested service and, if not, a warning message is sent to the customer. If funds are available a payment for the requested service or good is deducted from the customer's account, the account balance is updated, and an authorization is sent to the service node that facilitates the requested service or good. Upon receipt of the authorization, the service node is permitted to access the requested service or good in accordance with a parameter. Other similar methods are provided for postpaid customers.

  • Patent number: 8050655
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling wireless network access for wireless devices are disclosed. A system can create an electronic record for a device intended for sale in a retail store. The record associated with the device can include an indication that the device has not been sold, and the device can be shipped to the retail store. When the device is purchased, the retail store can communicate to the wireless service provider that the device has been sold, and the system can update the electronic record to reflect that the device has been sold. The sold device can be allowed to access a network. An attempt to use a device marked as unsold can result in the call being routed to a fraud management center for verification of proper device purchase.

  • Patent number: 7567795
Abstract: A system and method for controlling wireless network access for stolen wireless devices is disclosed. The system creates an electronic record for devices intended for sale in retail stores. The records associated with the devices include a field that identifies the devices as unsold prior to being shipped to those stores. Upon proper purchase, the retail store automatically communicates to the wireless service provider that a device has been sold. The system updates the electronic record to show that the device has been purchased. Sold devices are allowed to access the network as normal. Attempts to use a device marked as unsold result in the call being routed to a fraud management center for verification of proper device purchase.
