    Abstract: Methods and systems for determining concentration of a target protein in a sample using a capillary electrophoresis (CE) system are disclosed. In certain aspects, the method can include flowing a sample through a capillary tube of the CE system and utilizing a light source to generate radiation containing at least one excitation wavelength suitable for exciting at least one native fluorophore of at least one target protein in the sample. An excitation beam containing the at least one excitation wavelength can be directed onto a transparent portion of the capillary tube so as to excite said at least one native fluorophore of the target protein passing through a lumen of the transparent portion in order to cause the at least one native fluorophore to generate fluorescent radiation, and at least a portion of fluorescent radiation emitted by the excited target protein can be detected.

    Abstract: The invented device enables the player of a musical instrument to monitor an electrical audio signal by bone conduction during playing. A conductively emitting surface, comprising an electromechanical transducer driven by the electrical audio signal to be monitored, is disposed on the exterior of the musical instrument to contact a conductively receptive exterior surface of the player's body near a bony structure of the player's head. In the most preferred embodiment, the musical instrument is a chin-supported stringed instrument, the instrument chinrest comprises the conductively emitting surface, and the conductively receptive exterior body surface is skin overlying the player's mandible. Acoustic energy produced by the electromechanical transducers is conducted from the conductively emitting surface to bones of the head, causing perception of the audio information contained in the electrical audio signal.

    Abstract: Detection devices for multianalyte detection on a solid substrate, methods for the preparation of the devices and their use in analytical and diagnostic procedures are described. The detection devices include a solid substrate fabricated with an array of detection spots, the detection spots having an analyte sensor bound to the substrate by a universal binding ligand. The universal binding ligand is capable of binding multiple analyte sensors to create a multifunctional array. A process for producing the detection devices and assay methods employing microprinting technology are also described.

    Abstract: An array device for detection of targets has a plurality of detection zones containing different detection spots in a predetermined pattern, such as edge effects. The detection spots are randomized to reduce inaccuracies resulting from spatial effects. Preferably, no two detection zones have the same pre-determined pattern. The device can be provided with a readable code to allow a detector to determine the predetermined pattern used for the array.
