  • Patent number: 11118068
Abstract: A solar reflective coating composition includes: a film-forming resin; a plurality of near-IR transparent pigments dispersed in the film-forming resin, the plurality of near-IR transparent pigments including a first perylene pigment and a second perylene pigment different from the first perylene pigment; and a near-IR reflective pigment dispersed in the film-forming resin, the near-IR reflective pigment different from the first perylene pigment and the second perylene pigment. When formed into a cured coating over a substrate, the cured coating exhibits an off-white or grey color. The solar reflective coating composition is substantially free of carbon black. The present invention is also directed to a substrate having a surface at least partially coated with a solar reflective coating composition and a method of preparing a low weight aerospace component.
