  • Publication number: 20060127132
Abstract: Drive train motor speed is varied in a manner that compensates for characteristic rotational velocity errors of the associated drive train, such as by modulating a drive train motor speed control signal at a modulation phase and amplitude derived from the characterized rotational velocity error. Characterization can be performed on a test system for each drive train of interest, and the compensation values thus obtained can be saved for later use by systems in which the characterized drive trains are used. Thus, a drive train used in a consumables cartridge for an electrophotographic printing (EP) system can be characterized and the corresponding data saved via a label or memory circuit that is affixed to the cartridge. Such data can be used by the EP system in which the cartridge is installed to more accurately control the velocity of the image forming process members driven by the cartridge's characterized drive train.

  • Publication number: 20050275677
Abstract: An imaging system including a rotatable device configured for rotation, a memory including an error table having a plurality of error entries and a position detection apparatus coupled to the rotatable device, the position detection apparatus having at least one position sensor, the at least one position sensor producing a position signal, the position detection apparatus combining the position signal with at least one of the plurality of error entries of the error table, to thereby produce an output signal representative of a substantially true position of the rotatable device.

  • Publication number: 20040245701
Abstract: A pick mechanism, having a clutch mechanism, for picking media sheets from an input tray and introducing them into a paper path of an image forming apparatus. The clutch mechanism comprises a plurality of balls positioned between an inner race and an outer race. Angular backlash between the inner race and the outer race may result in variations in the timing of the media sheets. An algorithm is further included to estimate the pick timing of the media sheets. The algorithm calculates an estimated pick time for a subsequent media sheet that incorporates the known engagement variations of the ball clutch pick mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6202007
Abstract: A self starting predictor corrector method of arbitrary order is disclosed that uses exact stability integration in network designs for application in systems optimizing control of aircraft through improved numerical techniques. Such method defines a self starting predictor corrector routine for a numerical solution of differential equations having a main process that computes derivatives of the states with a n-th order numerical solution for a n-th order differential equation. Moreover, such method configures an exact stability algorithm for generating a numerical integration of a high order of any type linear or nonlinear filter or network by constraining extraneous eigenvalues in the high order filter or network to be a definite value.
