  • Publication number: 20070209603
Abstract: An animal lifting and supporting device (1) comprising a frame member (3) having a lifting section (5) and a rear support section (7), a support member (9) depending from the frame member at the rear support section, the support member being constructed so as to project (10) between the hind legs of an animal to support the underneath of the rear of the animal, and a pair of hip supports (11) arranged to depend from the frame member so as to provide support via the hip bones at the opposite sides of the animal, the hip supports being located intermediate the lifting section and the rear support section, wherein the arrangement is such that the animal may be raised or supported in cantilever fashion by lifting or supporting the lifting section.

  • Publication number: 20060047287
Abstract: An animal tag comprising, a penetrating component (3) having two ear penetrating members (9) joined by a strip of intermediate material (13), a complementary component (15) having a locking portion (17) for each penetrating member, and ramp means (21) for each locking portion, wherein the arrangement is such that the ear penetrating members are designed to be passed through the ear (33) of an animal and to lock onto the locking portions to sandwich the ear in a gap (28) between the penetrating component and complementary component and the ramp means are arranged to co-operate with the skin penetrating members to vary the size of the gap whereby to provide a range of gap sizes to accommodate varying ear thicknesses and/or growth of the animal.

  • Patent number: 6936294
Abstract: The present invention provides a process to remove the germ from the endosperm of a corn kernel. The apparatus of the present invention comprises frictional cylindrical rollers, each roller rotating about an axis, the axis of the rollers substantially parallel, and the direction of rotation being opposing. The roller bodies having a rubberized covering, rotate with differing surface velocities and are tensioned such as to impart low-impact friction forces to corn kernels drawn between the roller covers. The process of the present invention includes a tempering step comprising adding an amount of moisture to the corn by wetting and soaking the corn; a polishing step for removing bran layers from the corn; a second tempering step comprising adding an additional amount of moisture to the corn by wetting and soaking the corn; and a friction step to remove germ from the endosperm.
