Patent number: 10901800Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for parallel processing of datasets with dynamic skew compensation. The disclosed systems and methods may increase the efficiency of dataset processing by imposing maximum size limits on parallel processing environment tasks. The disclosed systems and methods may generate a target partition of a variable, a database storing data elements, a cluster that generates one or more output files based on the target partition and the data elements, and a display device that displays analysis results for the target partition using the one or more output files. Generation may comprise creating a calculation partition, mapping data elements according to the calculation partition, and generating the one or more output files based on the mapped data elements. The calculation partition may depend on a target partition and a uniform partition that partitions values based on one or more of statistical measures and pseudorandom functions.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2016Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: John Stocker, Sunny Kumar

Publication number: 20160247367Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for users to communicate with encoded messages via their wearables devices. Users can send encoded messages by pressing on at least one button on the wearable devices. Pressing the at least one button in different sequences can mean different messages. The encoded messages can be sent from a first wearable device to a second wearable device, and the received encoded messages can be displayed as a configuration of at least one light on the second wearable device. Messages can be sent over any suitable communications medium from one wearable device to another wearable device. Devices can also use other wearable devices to relay messages. A wearable device can be paired with a communication device and use the communication device's network to send and/or receive messages over a long distance.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2016Publication date: August 25, 2016Inventors: Sara Jolene CHIPPS, Audrea Brooke MORELAND, Maria Paula SABA DOS REIS, George John STOCKER, III, Scott Michael DAVISON

Publication number: 20060063307Abstract: The invention describes a method and apparatus for deploying micromachined actuators in a plane which is orthogonal to the original fabrication plane of the devices. Using batch-processing, photolithographic procedures known in the micromachined electromechanical system (MEMS) art, a plurality of devices is constructed on a suitable substrate. The devices are then separated one from another by sawing and dicing the original fabrication wafer. The devices are rotated into an orthogonal orientation and affixed to a second wafer. The second wafer also contains circuitry for addressing and manipulating each of the devices independently of the others. With this method and apparatus, arrays of actuators are constructed whose plane of actuation is perpendicular to the plane of the array. This invention is useful for constructing N×M fiber optic switches, which direct light from N input fibers into M output fibers.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2005Publication date: March 23, 2006Applicant: Innovative Micro TechnologyInventors: Patrick Feierabend, John Foster, Richard Martin, Paul Rubel, John Stocker, Jeffery Summers, Andrew Wallis

Patent number: 4560647Abstract: A method for the determination of antigens or antibodies in a fluid by incubation of particles, which have antigens on the surface, and antibodies, whereby either the antigens or the antibodies are of known specificity is described. This method comprises introducing the antigen/antibody complex into a container having a conical-shaped or keel-shaped bottom recess, whereby at least the recess of the container is coated with an immunoglobulin-building component which is directed against the antibodies. After centrifugation the amount of the sediment is determined, which indicates whether the antigen or antibody to be determined is present or not.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1984Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignee: Hoffmann-La Roche Inc.Inventor: John Stocker
