  • Publication number: 20080070567
Abstract: A portable wireless communication device comprises a housing, a transceiver within the housing, and a scented compound associated with the housing. The transceiver permits a user to communicate with one or more remote parties via a base station subsystem in a wireless communication network. The scented compound emits a scent whenever the scented compound is activated. Activation may occur responsive to a user keypress on a keypad of the portable wireless communication device, or to radiated heat that exceeds a predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 6238230
Abstract: A latch assembly includes a body member defining a cavity and including at least two spaced apart, opposed, relatively displaceable arms. A latch structure is located on at least one of the arms. A deformable elastomeric core is disposed in the cavity to resist convergent displacement of the arms. The elastomeric core is responsive to convergent displacement of the arms to provide a spring force biasing the arms apart.

  • Patent number: 5995052
Abstract: An antenna for a communication device including a first flip having an antenna element and pivotally mounted on a housing to move from a closed position adjacent to the housing to an operational position angularly space from the housing. A second flip having a conductive element as a ground plane is pivotally mounted on the housing and moves between a closed position adjacent the housing and an open position angularly spaced from both the housing and the first flip. When the first and second flips are in the closed position, they cover the controls and no antenna is exposed on the exterior of the housing. In the operational position, the antenna element and the conductive element form an antenna optimally tuned to the frequency of the wireless network that is less subject to interference by the user.

  • Patent number: 5841635
Abstract: Relatively moveable portions of a flexible printed circuit member are interconnected by a web that extends between the moveable portions and is disposed in a cavity within a hinge interconnecting separately moveable parts of a split keypad assembly. The web portion of the flexible printed circuit is folded so that it is coaxially aligned with the axis of rotation of the moveable portions of the keypad assembly. The design and arrangement of the flexible printed circuit member avoids bending the flexible printed circuit member about an axis perpendicular to the member when the keypad assembly is opened or closed, and provides a vertically assemblable structure that completely encloses the interconnecting web portion of the printed circuit member, thereby avoiding the need for external connectors between the moveable elements of the keypad assembly.
