  • Patent number: 7256791
Abstract: Rasterization of three-dimensional images are provided in which three-dimensional image data, which includes at least (x,y,z) coordinate and color information, are generated, organized, and stored at memory locations in one or more frame buffers in accordance with z-coordinate information.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 2001
Date of Patent: August 14, 2007
    Assignee: LightSpace Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Alan Sullivan, John T. Snuffer
  • Publication number: 20040085310
Abstract: A system and method for extracting and processing three-dimensional graphics data generated by OpenGL or other API-based graphics applications for conventional two-dimensional monitors so that the data can be used to display three-dimensional images on a three-dimensional volumetric display system, includes an interceptor module to intercept instructions sent to OpenGL and extraction of data based on the intercepted instructions for use by the volumetric display system.

  • Publication number: 20030090485
Abstract: Three-dimensional transition effects such as cross-fades between successive three-dimensional scenes are generated by manipulating depth (or “Z”) values as they transition over time in a series of transitional frames from the Z values associated with the first three-dimensional scene to the Z values associated with the second three-dimensional scene. In addition, a composition of two three-dimensional scenes is produced by first generating a pixel map of absolute differences between Z values of the two three-dimensional scenes, then blurring the pixel map, and finally blending color values of the two three-dimensional scenes according to a blending factor determined by the blurred pixel map values.
