  • Patent number: 7337104
Abstract: Device emulation implemented in programmable circuits. In one aspect, an interface for providing control of a hardware device includes functional code embedded in circuitry of the interface. Emulator code is embedded in programmable circuitry of the interface to emulate the hardware device during testing of the functional code and the interface. Another aspect diagnoses errors in a system having an interface and a connected hardware device, using emulator code embedded in a programmable circuit of the interface.

  • Patent number: 7091985
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and information bearing medium for compressing color utilizes an expandable color palette for storing a pre-established number of n-bit color codes. Each of the n-bit color codes maps to an m-bit color value, where m is an integer greater than n. Up to the pre-established number of n-bit color codes are stored in a first palette table of the color palette. The color palette is expanded to include up to a specified number of palette tables for storing sets of the pre-established number of n-bit color codes. The pre-established number of n-bit color codes is characterized by 2n?1 color codes. The color palette is expanded to include up to (m/n)?1 palette tables for storing sets of 2n?1 color codes. Each of the palette tables is associated with a pixel table which stores a linking value for associating a particular palette table to a subsequently generated palette table.

  • Patent number: 7062087
Abstract: A system, method, and processor-readable medium provide for compressing color data involves a number of pixels defining a region of a display area. The pixel data for each of the pixels includes color data and control data. The control data of particular pixels, having color data not used to contribute to a color of an object in a display area region, is set to a transparent setting. The color data of the particular pixels is set to a selected color code for the entire region and subject to compression. In another embodiment, the particular pixels may include color data not used to contribute to a color of a first object or a second object in the display area region. The color data of particular pixels defining the first object is set to a first color code. The color data of particular pixels defining the second object is set to a second color code. The color data is switched between the first and second color codes at a selected pixel position.

  • Publication number: 20040257591
Abstract: A method and system for providing a printer for printing an encoded data stream. The stream includes a section of complex text data. The code is preferably Unicode, and the complex text data is preferably Unicode complex text. The printer includes a font, a text parser, and a layout engine. The font includes a plurality of glyphs. The text parser parses the data stream to determine the section of complex text data in the data stream. The layout engine is coupled to the text parser and with the font. The layout engine receives the section of complex text data from the text parser and determines at least one of the plurality of glyphs and glyph positions corresponding to the section of complex text data.

  • Publication number: 20030188510
Abstract: The specification and drawings describe and show one embodiment of the present invention in the form of a food bag quick-seal apparatus comprising an elongate rod-shaped member; an elongate C-shaped clamp member for receiving the elongate rod-shaped member; and the C-shaped clamp member further having handle means for facilitating the engagement of the rod-shaped member into the C-shaped clamp member.

  • Patent number: 4841453
Abstract: A character generator with multidirectional scan and variable line and character (or symbol) size capability. Universality is implemented by producing a serial binary stram which can be used to print or display in any of eight combinations of scan direction and progression, that is, for scan direction left to right, or vice versa, progressing up or down, or scan direction top to bottom or vice versa, progressing left or right. In formatting the serial binary stream, a font is accessed (for basic symbol definition), which selectively provides for orthogonal scans of the symbol definitions. Variable line size is implemented by terminating a symbol row (or line) based on a predetermined size criteria regardless of the comparable font dimension and "filling" up to the line size to the extent the corresponding font dimension is less than the predetermined size criteria.
