Patent number: 10641778Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for assessing the fidelity of a synthetic peptide population including interrogating a population of peptide features in the presence of a receptor having an affinity for a plurality of binder sequences. A first amino acid is at a defined position within a first one of the binder sequences, and the population of peptide features includes a first control peptide feature synthesized to have an amino acid sequence including the first one of the binder sequences. The system and method further includes detecting a signal output characteristic of an interaction of the receptor with the first control peptide feature. The signal output is indicative of the fidelity of incorporation of the first amino acid into the first control peptide at the defined position within the first one of the binder sequences.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2016Date of Patent: May 5, 2020Assignee: ROCHE SEQUENCING SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Ryan Bannen, Sarah Barilovits, Jigar Patel, Eric Sullivan, John Tan

Publication number: 20190366295Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for assessing a synthetic peptide population including interrogating a population of peptide features in the presence of a receptor having an affinity for a binder sequence. The population of peptide features is synthesized over a plurality of synthesis periods and includes a plurality of control peptide features synthesized to have an amino acid sequence including the binder sequence. The control peptide features include a first feature synthesized beginning with a first one of the synthesis periods, and a second feature synthesized beginning after the first one of the synthesis periods such that synthesis of the second control peptide feature is delayed by at least one synthesis period. The method further includes detecting a signal output characteristic of an interaction of the receptor with the control peptide features, the signal output indicative of the fidelity of synthesis of the population of peptide features.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2019Publication date: December 5, 2019Inventors: Ryan Bannen, Sarah Barilovits, Jigar Patel, Eric Sullivan, John Tan

Patent number: 10233675Abstract: An electronic device configured to communicate with a portable apparatus to selectively engage a security member includes a housing having an opening formed therein. The opening is configured to receive at least a portion of the security member. The electronic device also includes a latch mechanism positioned within the housing adjacent the opening. The latch mechanism is configured to selectively engage the security member when the at least a portion of the security member is received in the opening. The electronic device further includes a transceiver positioned within the housing. The transceiver is operable to receive a wireless signal from the portable apparatus. The electronic device also includes a processor positioned within the housing and coupled to the latch mechanism and the transceiver. The processor is operable to move the latch mechanism out of engagement with the security member in response to the wireless signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2017Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: ACCO Brands CorporationInventors: John Tan, Wei Chen

Patent number: 10183424Abstract: A product to be shipped is placed on a platform. A conveyor belt moves the product and platform toward a packaging station where mold forms at least define a space which encloses the product. Expanding foam is then injected via injector lines into the space. Once the expanding foam has at least partially hardened, the mold forms may be retracted and the package is moved to a next station for at least one of finishing, loading, or storing. The foam thus becomes the shipping package for the product. This eliminates the need to store shipping containers of multiple standardized sizes and shapes, and to fill the standardized shipping containers with dunnage. The mold forms also provide for customized exterior shapes for the shipping package.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2014Date of Patent: January 22, 2019Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Gregory Karl Lisso, Jon Stuart Battles, John Tan, Samuel Christopher Uhlman
